Youtube Made me Buy it

YouTube Made Me Buy It!

DSC_0300

Have you ever gotten lost in the world of Youtube and at the end felt like “damn I need to buy THIS palette!”?? Today I will tell you about 3 palettes I bought because of youtube. Some I love some I “hate” or . . . well dislike!

We will start with TooFaced’s Chocolate Bar. I bought this palette because EVERYONE raved about it. It was the palette to own.

DSC_0341

I justified getting it because it had neutrals and color. Mattes and shimmers. Overall it’s an ok palette. A few things I like about it is the color selection. It has good variation for a neutral look or even a glammed look. Also, some of the colors are very pigmented. Some stuff I didn’t like. . .

DSC_0346

As you can see one of the shadows popped out. It isn’t magnetic so every time I travel or open it the pan falls out. The packaging isn’t my favorite either. While it’s very beautiful and cute the magnets giving out and if I’m not careful the pan falls on the floor. Hence the cracked product.

Up next is the Chocolate bars cousin. The Chocolate BonBon palette.

DSC_0372

The problem I have with this palette is that I hardly reach for it. It’s almost like it’s just there to be pretty. Like its cousin some of the colors are hit or miss with the pigmentation. It features beautiful colors that I thought would take me out of my “neutral” comfort zone but I have yet to do a colorful look with it.

I do however love the transition shades in this palette and Satin Sheets as a highlight. Sadly the packaging is adorable but magnetic and flimsy feeling like the Chocolate bar.

Another palette Youtube made me buy is Urban Decays Naked2. This is a staple for every beginner makeup enthusiast. DSC_0367

This is another palette I haven’t used in such a long time. Perhaps it’s because its been put away or maybe because I’m not drawn to the shades. It’s mostly shimmer and back when I first started my makeup journey I didn’t know I wouldn’t “love” shimmers.

Maybe its the fall out I’m not attracted to or the fact to ME shimmers get a bit muddy. Or they lose the actual shimmer to them. I love the shock pigments/shadows from Colourpop and when I want a glittery look I turn to them.

DSC_0363

All of these palettes cost a pretty penny. If you’re a collector and don’t care about some the cons then these aren’t so bad. But if you are looking for some cheap alternatives there are some great choices out there. They’re beautiful palettes all 3 of them. With some pro’s and some con’s. I don’t regret ANY of them.

Is there anything Youtube made you buy? Anything you regret?

Makeup Of The Week

This past week I wore more makeup than usual. I’m not sure what it was but for me makeup is therapeutic. Or perhaps with my “bold” hair I needed makeup to feel evened out. LOL! No worries my hair won’t stay this gold. We’re going to give it a break before bleaching it one more time and then toning it, can’t wait!

IMG_0400-2

Am I the only one that sometimes likes to go soft on the eyes and just focuses on the skin? I absolutely love how healthy my skin looked on this day.

IMG_0426-2-2

This day I went a little bolder trying to slowly work up the courage to try a “sunset eye”. Have you seen that trend? It’s supposed to be the shizz this summer. In the center of the lid I have Colourpop’s Super Shock Pressed Pigment in “Animal”. How gorgeous is it?? In person it has a goldish sheen to it.

IMG_0489-2

I feel like this hair called for a bold pinup’ish look. I had so much fun with this look. To achieve this eye look I used Kat Von D’s “Shade & Light Contour Eye Palette”. It has to prettiest warm and cool browns. To highlight I used the sample of Urban Decay’s highlighter I received in my Ipsy May Glam Bag. On the lips I have a combination of NYX’s Lingerie “#05 Beauty Mark” and on the center is Milani’s “#10 Adorable”.

IMG_0492

Although I wasn’t wearing makeup the whole week the days I did cake it on I was so happy with my looks. I tend to go soft and lately I’ve been feeling bold and going for more bold looks. Definitely stepping out of my comfort zone!

Whats your “Go To” look? Is it glam or simple??

Ipsy May Glam Bag

DSC_0261.JPG

This months Glam bag was very uneventful. I wasn’t very excited about much. The bag is cute but not my favorite. I can see how this can be used to go to the beach and keep valuables safe. I may feel like this because A. I didn’t get the Starlooks eyeliner pen with a star stamp. B. I didn’t get Benefits Give me Brow and C. I didn’t get the Manar Kadar bronzer and highlight duo. But I did get a brush which is a plus! Or maybe I’m just bitter because Chicago hasn’t been acting very spring/summer-ish!DSC_0270

I received this mask once before and actually enjoy it a lot. I get a lot out this particular size and it leaves the skin feeling sooooo good! I use it once or twice a month. This Global Beauty Charcoal wash off mask is definitely one of my favorites. I am scared to try stuff like this because I do have sensitive skin. I can easily irritate it or throw it off-balance so it’s a total win that on my first try I got it right!

DSC_0271

Brushes are my weakness and receiving this was fun! I actually just picked up another set of brushes by Moda so to have cousins of the same brush brand is exciting. The bristles are very soft and this particular brand is cruelty free (I believe a lot of their brushes are vegan). Yay! Thing is I usually don’t know what to use this type of brush for. Ipsy suggest under eye concealer or nose contour, we shall see!

DSC_0273.JPG

Let me start off by saying the packaging on this mascara is everything. I love how sleek and sophisticated it looks. I can’t wait to try it. It sounds so promising!

  • Here at ipsy HQ we believe in grande lattes and grande lashes. This lash-plumping mascara pumps up the volume for mile long, thick AF lashes.

  • Every lash counts, amiright? The tapered brush has hard AND soft bristles that reach even the teensiest, tiniest, inner corner-iest lashes for a fanned-out look.

  • Sad movie? Pool party? Makeout sesh? This smudge and flake-resistant, waterproof mascara keeps our lashes in check no matter what the sitch.

  • Italians do it better! Just like our fave cappuccino, this inky black formula from Italy is rich, dark, and makes us look more awake. –Ipsy WebsiteDSC_0275

Urban Decay is one of those brands I genuinely enjoy so the chance to try one of its highlighters is AMAZING! As I have mentioned before I have a hard time finding highlights that work for me, I’m hoping this works! Fingers crossed for Afterglow in Sin.

  • You dew you! If you’re looking for an IRL version of that amazing Snapchat filter glow, this champagne-hued highlighter is IT.

  • Inside sources tell us the powder formula is super-duper finely milled, which means it’s creamy AF, but still majorly lightweight.

  • We see you shining on (and on). This long-wearing luminizer kept our glow-game strong from morning rush hour to 6PM happy hour (and beyond).

  • We’re obsessed with all of Urban Decay’s shade names, but TBH the only sin you’ll be committing with this baby is being TOO lit.

Love it OR Hate it??

I feel like the word hate should never be used when speaking about makeup, am I right? But today I bring you some products I love and maybe one I hate or dislike. I’m not sure yet but I’ll explain why.

DSC_0044.jpg

My first love is this moisturizer from Burt’s Bees. I’ve always liked this company and even more after I watched the documentary on it. I purchased this particular item when we traveled and I forgot my moisturizer at home. As someone who is acne prone and very oily I have a hard time finding products that go well with my skin. This daily moisturizing cream in sensitive has been awesome.

• Softens and can help shield skin from potential irritants with Cotton Extract
• Moisturizes with Rice Extract
• Formulated with Jojoba Esters, a natural emollient
• Does not cause redness or irritation
• All day formula
• Formulated with Aloe to soothe
• Fragrance Free and Hypoallergenic
• Allergy Tested and Dermatologist Tested – Burt’s Bees website

DSC_0045

Once again Milk cosmetics blur stick is back on the “love” list. I can’t get enough of it. #MOTD & First Impressions Here I talk more about it. As of now I am still in love. My skin has changed, again! The dry patches are gone but now I have a lot of textured skin. I can’t figure out what’s causing it. But this primer has definitely helped with evening out my face’s appearance.

DSC_0047

This is my hate/dislike. This is Urban Decay’s All Nighter Liquid foundation. At first I absolutely loved this foundation. It stays matte all day. . . But here is what I dislike: it oxidizes bad. It changes almost three whole shades. It’s also started to separate on the skin. I can’t figure out if its my routine before applying the foundation or the foundation itself. I mentioned this to my best friend and she looked up reviews and I guess they’re pretty bad. I also feel like I can’t set it with just any setting spray. I think that’s what adds to the separation.

DSC_0048.jpg

My last LOVE is Tarte’s  Double Duty Beauty Shape tape contour concealer. This concealer took the internet by storm. Of course I also jumped on the bandwagon and haven’t looked back since. It is everything a concealer is supposed to be or do? lol! For a while it was so hard to find it in stores. Something about Tarte not making enough for the demand of it. A little goes a long way so one swipe from the applicator is enough to cover the under eye.

Sculpt and highlight as you mask imperfections with this 2-in-1 full coverage concealer. The hydrating, longwearing formula delivers natural, radiant coverage across all skin types so you can instantly brighten and cover acne, dark circles and redness while softening the look of pores and fine lines. Wear it 1-2 shades lighter or darker, and it works as a creamy highlighter or contouring stick with a lightweight, blendable formula and tapered wand applicator ideal for precise strobing and sculpting. Powered by Amazonian clay and conditioning mango seed and shea butters, the nutrient-rich concealer helps promote skin elasticity and illumination with each crease-free application. Apply it with the all-in-one Quickie Blending Sponge (sold separately) for a quick, complexion fix and flake-free finish anywhere.

Cruelty free, gluten-free, vegan. –Ulta website

Mini Haul

I got  a little gift for Mother’s day just some essentials I had run out of. These are favorites I keep repurchasing. Ok, maybe not. I got a few new things.

LAURAGELLERGILDEDHONEY

To start off this mini haul is the much wanted Laura Geller Gilded Honey. I noticed that for me some highlighters don’t work because they make me look chalky. I’ve wanted a gold highlight for such a long time but there’s so many out there it’s hard to pick one! I’ve seen this around so much and the packaging is adorable. It’s very soft and goes on so buttery. This baked highlight comes in 3 more shades: Ballerina, Charming Pink, and Peach Glow.

Illuminate your natural beauty! This innovative hybrid texture applies like a sheer powder but feels like a cream, creating a translucent wash of luminous color that can be swept all over the face for a lit-from-within glow. A fresh 3-D design captures the look of our favorite Italian dessert, and lasts until the very last application.

Ballerina – a candlelit, rose gold shade
Charming Pink – a soft pink pearl
Gilded Honey – an effervescent caramel honey shade
Peach Glow – a peachy champagne shimmer – Laura Geller Website

ESSENCESAYNOTOREDNESS

Something else new I purchased is this essence Say no to Redness. I have never purchased anything from this brand and just kind of went out on a whim with it. I have been getting these red patches around my nose lately and some pretty inflamed acne that I wanted to give something new a shot to help color correct. With the weather getting so hot I don’t like piling on products so I’m hoping this will eliminate the need of spot correcting with concealer before/after foundation.

MARIOBADESCU

Another new product I bought is this Mario Badescu facial spray. I’ve used this brand thanks to a lot of recommendation from my little sis and so far its never failed me. As you can tell this facial spray has aloe, herbs, and rosewater. It smells so good like roses which eventually goes away. The small bottle was only $5 at Ulta, yay!

A refreshing, hydrating mist to use anywhere anytime. Simply formulated with fragrant Herbal Extracts and Rosewater for a pleasant, pick me up for dehydrated, tight and uncomfortable skin. Spray your day and night creams for a boost of hydration or use it to set make-up or spray on dry hair throughout the day. Safe for all skin types. Gentle, non-irritating. –Mario Badescu Website

LAURAGELLER

Lastly is the Urban Decay de-slick makeup setting spray for oil control. I love this setting spray because it’s by Skindanavia which I LOVE! There’s also the eyeshadow primer potion in original. I told you guys this is my go to primer and I had recently ran out so I HAD TO pick some up. This does so good with the hot Florida weather it’s definitely a must have.

To the moms out there I hope you had a wonderful day full of makeup and love!

I will be doing a follow-up with all the new items I purchased so stay tune for that!

What’s your favorite Highlight? Anyone else try this Mario Badescu facial spray, thoughts??

Brushes, Monday Favorites, Uncategorized

Monday faves, it’s BRUSHES!

As the title says today’s Monday Faves will be brushes. I will tell you all about my favorite eye brushes. My brush obsession knows no limits!! From eye brushes, to face, even body brushes, I have them all! We did a little belated mothers day shopping and I almost got brushes. KEYWORD: almost, LOL! (I’m going to apologize in advance for not using my Nikon for this post.)

MORPHE

For setting my eye primer or eye concealer I like using a mini angled buffer by Morphe from the 690 – 6 PIECE DELUXE CONTOUR SET. I got this set from Hautelook for 50% off so it was a steal. The bristles are very soft on the lids. I don’t know how it would blend but just for setting it does amazing.

LUXIESONIAKASHUK

I have several brushes I like for my crease. My ultimate favorite ‘I freak out’ when I lose it is the #109 By Sonia Kashuk. At $5.99 it’s a great brush. Blends seamlessly, is very soft on the lids, and has minimal shedding. Another crease favorite is Luxie’s #205 Tapered Blending Brush. I used to like this brush for my outer corner until I started using it’s sister brush. So one day when my Sonia Kashuk was dirty I picked up this 205 and have never looked back. It’s become one of my must haves, love it forever, “holy grail” blending brush.

UDSIGMA

Ok, so I’m going to be completely honest with you guys; I look up everything I post. I don’t like giving you guys the wrong info. Sooooo in doing just that I found out Urban Decay actually sells the palette brushes individually. HOW DID I NOT KNOW?!? Lol, anyway, I love this brush from my Naked 2 palette to pack on shadow on the lid. If thats dirty my Sigma E55 from the Color Pop Collection does amazing.

ELFBRUSH

I enjoy little gems in the rough and this e.l.f. crease brush is just that. At only a $1 I think a lot of people look past it. I don’t use it as the name suggests but that’s the beauty of makeup, anything goes. I use this inexpensive brush to pack on color in my outer corner. I then blend that out with another brush. Works amazing! The bristles are a bit stiff that’s why I personally don’t use it for the crease but thats just MY opinion.

LUXIE BRUSHES

I like smoking out my bottom lashes with Luxie’s #221 Flat Definer and #231 Small Tapered Blending brush. All these Luxie eye brushes came in a set together I purchased through Ipsy for $25! Winning!

DETAIL SHADOW BRUSH

Last but not least is this cute, random, black brush I like for applying inner corner highlight. This brush came from the very first set of brushes I ever purchased and I cannot remember the name of it. If I had to compare it to another brush I’d say it performs just like Real Techniques accent brush: designed for precision detailing, spotlighting, highlighting, and smudging from the Starter Set .

I cannot have enough brushes and there’s a few sets out there that I have my eyes on. I try to find brushes that are vegan. Sadly sometimes I don’t do my research and I have purchased brushes that are from ‘animal hair’.

What are some of your favorite eye brushes? Any you recommend? Also, would anyone like to see my little Mother’s day haul? lol

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed this post!

Empties, That’s a Good thing

There are products I like so much I repurchase over and over. These are my empties for the month. I don’t wear makeup every single day so naturally I don’t go through makeup at an insane rate like lets say, a makeup artist would. BUT, these are/have become my favorites.

DSC_0694

This is benefit’s The Pore Fessional. Now I know this isn’t a primer but a pore minimizer but for me it works amazing all over to keep my makeup in place. I have oily skin. I easily and quickly become oily. This product keeps me oil free pretty much for how ever long I wear my makeup. If I’m wearing a matte foundation it will keep matte for a few hours then I get a “healthy glow”. Meaning I’m not an oil slick just a tiny bit. I also have gotten bigger pores as I age and I think it has to do with wearing makeup and not always removing it properly. This pore minimizer definitely does what it says. So, if like me you have large pores I’d give it try. I started off with the sample size, fell in love, and now I just go ahead and get this size. It last a good amount of time.

DSC_0695

Another empty is this Wet n Wild Photofocus setting spray. I personally feel like this setting spray doesn’t get a lot of love on social media. At only $4.99 it’s a steal. I found it set my makeup so well, made it long-lasting, and helped with my oily skin. I went through this so fast because I loved spraying on myself, it felt so refreshing. As you can see Wet n Wild is cruelty free so thats another plus. 🐰 Yay for Bunnies!!

DSC_0696.JPGCan ya tell this concealer was used?? Haha! This is Maybelline’s DREAM LUMI™ TOUCH HIGHLIGHTING CONCEALER. This is another product I feel isn’t talked about enough. For me it works amazing for highlighting as it states in the name. When using this I can bypass applying a concealer for my under eye circles. Its not often I need it but if I do I’ll use double concealer. In all honesty thats probably over kill and this would do good on its own. However, IT IS A HIGHLIGHTING CONCEALER. It has such a beautiful even finish (I’ve noticed some Maybelline concealers can look streaky). I can apply it with a stippling brush,  beauty blender, and e.l.f.’s concealer brush. To see if I “love” a product I test it every way possible. Definitely need to repurchase this!

EYESHADOWPRIMERPOTION

Last but definitely not least is Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion. Pictured here is the sample size but I NEED to get it full size. I have tried other primers, even using concealer as a primer and nothing compares to it. I love I don’t have to set it if I’m in a rush it does good no matter what! Helps with eyeshadows creasing because even my eyelids get oily (insert the new emoji of the eyes rolling!). I do want to try one of Mac’s Paint Pot. But this will ALWAYS be my go to primer.

Thats it for my Empties.

I want to do something different though. I want to start showing you guys who I draw inspiration from and naturally my first person would be my best friend Rocy. She is so knowledgeable when it comes to makeup, hair products, and skin products. I have often referred to her as my “personal makeup guru!!”  😘 If I have any questions I run to her, she often fills me on new products out there, and she’s so gorgeous I often try to recreate her looks, lol! We live many many miles apart but our friendship has withstood it. Going on 10 years strong.
