Does it work???

Does it work???

I am always on the hunt for a new foundation. Although I have some I absolutely love I like to give me skin breaks from certain products. Especially if its something I’ve repurchased many times. For the past couple of months I have been using Wet n Wild’s photofocus foundation which I absolutely love! In my opinion I’d say it’s very similar to Estee Lauder’s DoubleWear. But I started breaking out! I had these small tiny bumps that made my skin look so bad.

It was wasn’t like cystic acne where its big and painful. Just these tiny bumps under the skin. I thought back to what new products I’d been using and it was the combination of Milk Cosmetics face primer and the Wet n Wild foundation. So I left those behind and reverted back to my trustees, holy grail, never fail routine. Moisturize, prime with Benefit’s Porefessional, and top it off with the DoubleWear foundation. DSC_0408

But one day I got brave and walked into Sephora and explained my situation to a consultant. Sometimes I hate doing that because no one knows my skin like. . . me, right? But I went ahead and did the color match (which is something I struggle a lot with) and they did this thing where it can tell my type of skin I have. I had a ton of color hits like seriously I could find a color that matched me in every single brand!! And she said I had  normal skin.

I explained to her how I wanted to try a foundation stick and she showed me my options but I just felt that because I do have acne scars I rather stick with something that provides better coverage. That’s how I ended up with Becca’s Ultima Coverage Complexion Creme. It retails for $44 so I wanted it to work soooo bad! She sampled it on my skin and instantly I liked the coverage, BUT I’m used to very thin foundations and this is a creme.

DSC_0422.png

I bravely bought it and then looked up reviews. . . bad idea! I was so scared of it because it had mixed reviews and then I texted my BFF and she agreed the reviews were scary! LOL. But in the end I can sincerely say I’m glad I got it. Its taken me a bit to adjust to the formula and to figure out if its best applied with a sponge or brush.

DSC_0423

From my personal experience I like it better with a brush. I use the Morphe MB8 and it works AMAZING! Then when I apply my concealer I spray a little fix plus and go over all the foundation and concealer. To avoid any streaks that may be left behind. The foundation itself has no scent unlike the Wet n Wild one and one pump goes along way!

DSC_0425

For a while now I’ve sort of obsessed with the idea of getting lip injections. Simply to alter the shape of my lips and to give them more of pout. I am happy with their size but I just wish my bottom one was slightly bigger. So naturally like any other makeup obsessed person out there you find a way to make it work! And that’s how I came across this product.

DSC_0426.png

DSC_0435.png

I swear I didn’t walk into Target looking for this specific product. I had recently read somewhere that Soap and Glory had an amazing eyeliner and I wanted it! But alas they didn’t have it and I have always been curious to try their makeup products since I already loved their hand cream! While looking I noticed their lip plumper and I used to have one by TooFaced that I loveedddd but never repurchased it!

So far I like it. But does it work? I think so. It made my lips tingle and feel a little bigger but I didn’t notice much of difference. But that was my first time using it. I’m not giving up on it. I will say I hate the scent or rather, dislike! It’s like a funky chocolate smell. And not good chocolate, lol! It goes away after a while though so I can look past it. The formula is thick and sticky but I don’t mind it. I needed a break from the mattes.

I purchased mine in Clearvoyant which is a clear gloss with a tiny shimmer but there are other colors to choose from. Like a nude, pink, and even a coral. Perhaps Ill apply it remove it and line my lips to see if I notice a difference. It still retails for a lot cheaper than most lip plumping glosses, win! And maybe it’ll help me change my mind from injections!

Any Soap and Glory products you swear by? Or perhaps a foundation you love??

Are you brush obsessed like I am?? If your answer is yes than this post is for you! If you’re not than stick around for some pretty colors! LOL. I originally saw these Royal and Langnickel “MODA” oval brushes on Pinterest. I have always been interested in brushes like this because its meant to be used on yourself as opposed to “regular” makeup brushes that are meant to be used on other people. I, however, did not like the price point of some of the brushes out there!

These babies retail for $24.99 on the Royal and Langnickel website. But if you’re lucky you can find them at Walmart for $16 and some change. The colors are beautiful and the brush bristles are extremely soft. If you’re into the Unicorn or Mermaid trend these are for YOU!

DSC_0259-2

I’ve talked about some of the stuff I like how about I mention one or two things I don’t like: the brush handle feels very flimsy. Perhaps that’s where the pricier brushes are better. I feel like if my toddler got a hold of them they’re toast. (If you have kids at home you understand the makeup brush struggle) Another thing is (and this is personal experience) I can’t adjust to the change. I’ve used them for about a week now and I still have some trouble. Maybe with time I can get used to it.

Some other stuff I read on the reviews is that cleaning is a bit hard because of how dense they are. For me that’s no big deal because I usually make an event out cleaning my brushes, LOL!

Onto important stuff. . . how do they apply the product? As beautiful as they look. I did have trouble getting into the crevices by the nose. Might be because I used the big brush for foundation (#801). I then used the second to biggest (#802) for concealer and I was blown away! It eliminated the need to blend one more time to get rid of any creases before powder like my beauty blender does. As for the other two brushes I can’t say since I want to use them to contour but with cream products.

So, as of now I can’t say “I love them”. But that’s just because I’m not used to them because as far as how they work its amazing! And they’re pretty on the eyes 😝

Do you own brushes like these? Do you love them? Any tips or suggestions you might have?

Until next time. . .

IMG_0189-2This post is to brag a little of a few items I posted about in my Colourpop Mini Haul. Today I tried a few new things. First off all I switched up my moisturizer to one I received in my Ipsy’s April Glam Bag. So far I love it! Seriously might purchase a full size.

IMG_0186-2

Something else that is new is the shade in my crease. I used “Brady” by Colourpop. I was a bit scared to use these shadows because I’ve only used their chrome ones and for that the best application is the fingertip. For this shadow I used a fluffy Morphe brush that is for contouring the nose.

I LOVE how it looks on the lid. They’ve worn so good and for a base I used MAC painterly paint pot in “soft ochre”.

IMG_0146-2

Now what I want to brag about and encourage you to buy is the holographic highlighter in “Monster”. If you read my mini haul then you saw this highlighter but I totally forgot to swatch it so here it is! I feel so pretty. I didn’t pack it on and I used a duo fiber brush so maybe that’s why it went on so soft and subtle. But I like it better than some of my “gold” highlighters. Because of my tan complexion many highlighters tend to look chalky. And perhaps because of the mousse formula I didn’t feel like this looked chalky on me at all. I paired it with a pink blush and obviously the pink eye. I also went soft and light on the lips with a Milani liquid lipstick.

If it’s possible I love Colourpop even more now and feel like I need to go and purchase more of its holographic highlighters! 🙊

IMG_0144-2

I also did a thing with my hair. Did you notice?? I’ve slowly been working towards getting my hair a “silver”. Thoughts??? I like it sooo much! I am naturally ashy so I didn’t feel like it was such a big change but we will be bleaching it again and doing silver perhaps once more. Since the hubby is gone I can go ahead and go crazy because he’s a creature of habit and never liked the idea of blonde on me. But my ultimate goal is to be platinum. I know I’m crazy! But for now I love my hair this way!! Maybe, I’ll even do some pastels. My bff just did purple and she looks GORGEOUS!!

Hope you liked this post and I’ve tipped you over on wether you should try Colourpop or not. It’s seriously affordable and such great quality. The pigmentation is everything and they have a lot of variety!

What are some of your holy grail Colourpop items? Anything you think I should try? Also, what color should I try on my hair?? Lets go CRAZY!!! 🤗

Until next time. . .

Laura Mercier & RCMA Setting Powder

Laura Mercier & RCMA Setting Powder

Laura Mercier

If like me you tend to get oily then you understand the importance of a setting powder. I am also the type of person that when they find something that works I will stick to it indefinitely if possible, lol! That was the case with the Laura Mercier translucent setting powder.

DSC_0404-2.png

I swear by it! Especially during hot Florida summers. I thought nothing could beat it! It has some amazing properties:

Modern Matte Finish

Creates a modern matte finish with a touch of sheer coverage. The translucent shade works on virtually all skin tones.

Soft-Focus Effect for a More Flawless Look

Like all Laura Mercier Setting Powders, it has a soft-focus effect that subtly blurs the look of fine lines and imperfections. Doesn’t settle into fine lines or pores and never looks cakey.

Formulation Details

Oil-free. Non-comedogenic. Non-caking. Dermatologically tested. Laura Mercier Website

BUT I noticed that for winter it was horrible. It dried my under eye soooo much! I mean to the point that I felt some tightening in that area that was very uncomfortable. I tried several setting sprays and even a more “dewey” concealer for my under eye but I wasn’t having it. It’s very important for me to have my under eye set because I have a natural deep crease below my lower lash line that if not set correctly foundation and concealer while pile up in there. Its very annoying because I noticed that affect makes me look tired.

That’s when I went on a quest and considered a pressed setting powder. Which I was using MAC’s powdered foundation to set the rest of my face but it was clinging to my dry spots I mentioned in this post. I know I know a powder foundation isn’t a setting powder but I had it so I gave it a shot. Then my BFF mentioned the RCMA setting powder. She never steers me wrong so naturally I looked into it. I looked at many reviews and everyone seemed to love it.

DSC_0411.png

When you first see it its a little strange because of the packaging it comes in. It looks like something that belongs in the kitchen in the seasoning section! LOL! But don’t be put off by it. This loose powder is just as amazing as the Laura Mercier one. It sets beautifully on the skin. Has no flash back which if you’re going out and are taking pictures with the flash on you know this is important. The best part is how affordable it is. While the big container of the Laura Mercier retails for $38 this one is only $12. It can be found here. It doesn’t do the drying thing the other one did which I was so thankful for. And it sets beautifully with any setting spray. Now like my best friend mentioned it does look a bit white after you apply it but that can be solved with some setting spray!

Now both these powders can be applied with a damp beauty blender, a setting brush, even a big puffy brush like I pictured. But if you’re not into baking (which you can do with both powders) a brush will do just as good as the sponge. The only problem with the RCMA is the container itself doesn’t have anywhere to put the powder so I find myself trying to squeeze my brush in it or dumping a ton out on a surface. So if that’s an issue for you I’d stick with the damp sponge.

Over all I love the performance of both powders. This isn’t a comparison or a dupe post it’s simply me talking about two products I love. Maybe I’d think of it as a “winter and summer setting powder”.

Are there any other setting powders you love/recommend? I am always on the hunt for some good setting products! 🤗

Until next time. . .

Colourpop Pressed Shadows & More

Colourpop Pressed Shadows & More

dsc_0276

Normally I like to post at least one Makeup Of The Day (MOTD) a week but we are once again in the middle of a move (story of my life, huh?). Instead I thought I’d do a post I’ve been dying to do! A while back I got a visa gift card and did not know what to get.

dsc_0302

Through Ipsy I’ve gotten pans of shadows and blush so I purchased a z palette to hold it all together. Ever since I’ve been wanting to purchase some single shadows but there’s so many options out there that I was over whelmed. As a stay at home with one income I’ve learned that not everything that’s raved about on Youtube is worth your buck. So I narrowed it down to three company’s I’d want to buy single shadows from: Mac, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and Makeup Geek.

dsc_0277
The three bottom shadows are Makeup Geeks Peach smoothie, Cocoa bear, and Faux fur.

dsc_0316Mac didn’t have any and Anatasia Beverly Hills were $12 per pan! (I had a mini heart attack when I saw the price) The best reasonably priced were Makeup Geek. We’ve seen them everywhere and have heard great things. Unlike the ABH shadows these retailed for HALF THE PRICE! I know amazing right?! Of course I bought the most popular shadows: Peach smoothie, Cocoa bear, and Faux fur. I absolutely love them. They’re very pigmented and blend soooo smoothly. I recommend them.

dsc_0273

The stars of this post are the Colourpop Pressed shadows. Anything you’ve heard about these is true! Colourpop specializes in affordable dazzling colors and when it came to these shadows they delivered.  I purchased Running late (the first pan in the palette) which reminds me a lot of peach smoothie, Wake up call (a soft brown that is perfect as a transition shade), Mili I actually received free because Colourpop reached 1,000,000 likes on Facebook (the only shimmer I got), Wait for it (the first pan in the second row) is a pretty soft pink/coral that I love as a transition shade, Stay Golden is the hot pink of the bunch, and last but not least is Piece of Cake which is described as a beautiful Indigo on the Colourpop website.

dsc_0320

Some pros to these shadows are the color pay off. They are very pigmented and a little goes a long way. They are also very very easy to blend and buttery. Like the other Colourpop shadows they come in bright pretty shades. Cons? When you dip your brush you’ll notice it has a lot of fall out. One more . . . the blue is a bit sheer but with some layering it does good. Now this will be music to your ears these only retail for $5!!

dsc_0323

Compared to the Makeup geek the only difference is that they have very little fall out. But I have one more shadow to talk about that I actually got in an Ipsy bag. It is the Ofra cosmetics “You Glow Girl”. It is a colab Ofra Cosmetics did with “dupethat” and it is a pretty pink shimmer that can be used for the face or eyes. I personally use it as just an eyeshadow. My opinion here will be of this product used as an eyeshadow not a highlighter (although I have used it as a highlight). This also has a lot of fall out. But the color pay off is awesome and it is such a beauty to use in a halo eye.

Ofra Cosmetics: You Glow Girl

Over all I am so happy with how my Z palette is looking and I can’t wait to add more shadows to it. Especially from ABH and Mac. *wishful thinking* If you’re thinking of buying single shadows I recommend all three of these companies. (Don’t quote me on the Ofra ones since I only own one.) The price points are awesome, they have a lot of colors to choose from, and the pigmentation is everything!

Do you own any of the Colourpop pressed shadows or Makeup geek?? Any shades I need? Any other companies I should try?!?

Morphe 35N

Morphe 35N

For a while I’ve wanted the Too Faced Peach Palette. Mainly for the peach color. Well, that and to add it to my Too Faced collection. But the more I see it in person the more I feel like I don’t need it. However, there’s a look I keep wanting try and don’t. IMG_2784

IMG_2785

Here’s the look I’ve been itching to do. I hadn’t tried because I didn’t think I had the color I wanted. Then I remembered I had the Morphe 35N palette which had two shades of peach I could totally use.

These palettes I feel got a lot of hype for a while and then it kind of died down. I don’t know why if they’re so pigmented and blend so effortlessly. They’re very inexpensive too. Often retailing for only $22 it’s a steal. Each palette has 35 shadows. This specific palette is all Neutrals and mattes, my favorite! They do however have vibrant shades and shimmers. Morphe also has collaborated with Jaclyn Hill to make the 35O palette which is a palette with all her favorite shades. I actually purchased my palette off of Hautelook at 50% off making the palette that much better.

MORPHE35N
As you can see it has a variety of neutral shades to create any look imaginable!

DSC_0812

Theres so many colors I often get stumped on what looks to create. I usually use this palette to create a smoky eye or carry it when we travel. As you can see it isn’t small but it has so many shades you can go simple or glam-ish with one palette! I actually want to get more of these palettes!

Do you have any of these Morphe palettes? Any that are your favorite or you recommend??

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed this post!
