Youtube Made me Buy it

YouTube Made Me Buy It!

DSC_0300

Have you ever gotten lost in the world of Youtube and at the end felt like “damn I need to buy THIS palette!”?? Today I will tell you about 3 palettes I bought because of youtube. Some I love some I “hate” or . . . well dislike!

We will start with TooFaced’s Chocolate Bar. I bought this palette because EVERYONE raved about it. It was the palette to own.

DSC_0341

I justified getting it because it had neutrals and color. Mattes and shimmers. Overall it’s an ok palette. A few things I like about it is the color selection. It has good variation for a neutral look or even a glammed look. Also, some of the colors are very pigmented. Some stuff I didn’t like. . .

DSC_0346

As you can see one of the shadows popped out. It isn’t magnetic so every time I travel or open it the pan falls out. The packaging isn’t my favorite either. While it’s very beautiful and cute the magnets giving out and if I’m not careful the pan falls on the floor. Hence the cracked product.

DSC_0354

DSC_0373

Up next is the Chocolate bars cousin. The Chocolate BonBon palette.

DSC_0372

The problem I have with this palette is that I hardly reach for it. It’s almost like it’s just there to be pretty. Like its cousin some of the colors are hit or miss with the pigmentation. It features beautiful colors that I thought would take me out of my “neutral” comfort zone but I have yet to do a colorful look with it.

DSC_0308

DSC_0318

DSC_0336

I do however love the transition shades in this palette and Satin Sheets as a highlight. Sadly the packaging is adorable but magnetic and flimsy feeling like the Chocolate bar.

Another palette Youtube made me buy is Urban Decays Naked2. This is a staple for every beginner makeup enthusiast. DSC_0367

This is another palette I haven’t used in such a long time. Perhaps it’s because its been put away or maybe because I’m not drawn to the shades. It’s mostly shimmer and back when I first started my makeup journey I didn’t know I wouldn’t “love” shimmers.

Maybe its the fall out I’m not attracted to or the fact to ME shimmers get a bit muddy. Or they lose the actual shimmer to them. I love the shock pigments/shadows from Colourpop and when I want a glittery look I turn to them.

DSC_0357

DSC_0363

All of these palettes cost a pretty penny. If you’re a collector and don’t care about some the cons then these aren’t so bad. But if you are looking for some cheap alternatives there are some great choices out there. They’re beautiful palettes all 3 of them. With some pro’s and some con’s. I don’t regret ANY of them.

Is there anything Youtube made you buy? Anything you regret?

Spring. . . Will it ever come?!

If like me you are up north/midwest then you know spring is never coming for us. When I was still in Florida spring was in full bloom at a nice sunny 70+ degrees. But just because it doesn’t feel like spring doesn’t  mean it is not spring because technically it is. That’s how I justified my spring look!

IMG_6462-2

As you can see we are still in sweaters 😩 To achieve this look I used my new favorite shadows: Colourpop pressed shadows!

IMG_6457-2.jpg

I went for a halo eye but sadly didn’t get a good pic. I however wanted to put the focus on my skin. I wanted to make it look healthy, hydrated, and glowy!

IMG_6461-2

  • Primer: Milk Cosmetics “Blur stick”
  • Foundation: Wet n Wild
  • Concealer: Tarte “shape tape”
  • Setting powder: RCMA
  • Bronzer: Benefits “Hoola bronzer”
  • Blush: Milani’s “Luminoso”
  • Eye Primer: Mac Pro longwear Paint pot
  • Eyeshadow: Colourpop Cosmetics “Wake up call & a mili” Makeup Geek “cocoa bear”
  • Eyeliner: Kat Von D
  • Highlight: Laura Geller “gilded honey”
  • Lips: Lipliner Mac “spice” NYX’s Liquid Lipstick “bedtime flirt”
  • Mascar: L’oreal “Telescoptic”
  • Setting spray: Mac “Fix +”

IMG_6463-2

Overall I was so happy with this look and I definitely feel like it can be played up with some fluttery lashes and a bold lip. As you can see I was just at home with my little and I never felt like it was “too much”.

Whats your favorite look?

Until next time. . .

#MOTD & First Impressions

dsc_0326

So like the seasons we change too and my recent routine has been a major change for me. I’m always itching to try new things and these are some of the products I’ve been using in my every day routine. Now, some of these I just got and haven’t used them for long so I’ll be giving you my “first impression” some others I’ve had.

As you can see by the pic my z palette has been my go to palette since purchasing the Colourpop shadows. In this post I talk more in-depth about them. Something else I’ve had for a while is the Hoola bronzer I got personalized, here’s the post for it! I kind of refused to use it because it’s so special to me but I broke down and did it. Which I’m glad I did its become one of my faves. The MAC lipstick is Velvet Teddy and the lip liner is spice. Such a pretty nude-ish combo. I also changed how I prime my eyes. Urban Decay’s Primer Potion wasn’t cutting it for me anymore so I switched to MAC’s Paint pot. It helps my shadow not fade with time because I do have oily lids.

dsc_0333

I swear by the Porefessional pore filler but I needed change. My skin changed and while I’m still oily I have been getting dry patches around my nose and the pore filler was accentuating them. I was done. I needed something more sheer but still promoted diminishing the appearance of pores. I also have the dr. Brandt pores no more. Even though it’s a lot thinner than the Porefessional it still felt thick on my dry patches. Which is what lead me to try the Milk cosmetics Blur stick. It is silicone and oil free which I didn’t know if your moisturizer or foundation has any of those it may clash with the primer and have a negative effect on the appearance of the makeup. I am extremely happy with it so far. I’ve only worn it a handful of times but so far its good. It retails for $36 so I am praying to the makeup gods we get along, 😆

dsc_0343

These Wet n Wild foundations are new for me. I purchased them over a month ago and I have such a love hate relationship with them. First off the shade between these two was pinkish so I went ahead and purchased a light shade and a darker one, combined, they’re a perfect match. Another thing that’s a bit of turn off is the scent of the actual foundation it’s very strong and reminds me of paint. But it wears so beautifully on the skin. It’s very light weight and can be built up without getting heavy. (CAKE 🎂FACE IS LIFE THOOO!! lol) It’s very very matte and I am very oily so trust me when I tell you it will last. This wears for I’d say 6+ hours before I start getting a little oily. As the name suggest its photo focus so it has no flash back and looks AMAZING in pictures.

img_6019
Does well with textured skin

dsc_0335

This Pixi Glow Mist is also new to me. Like I mentioned before the wet n wild foundation is very matte and with the dry patches I’m experiencing I needed a bit of hydration back in my skin. I tried setting my makeup with MAC’s fix+ right after setting it with the RCMA powder then finishing with Urban Decay setting spray but I still looked very dry. This is another product I’ve only used a handful of times but I’m happy with it. I used it to set immediately after I use my powder products; such as bronzer, blush, and setting powder. It leaves a beautiful sheen without being oily. . . or as the name suggest it leaves a glow. BUT its a very natural healthy glow. Not oily at all. I wore it for 4+ hours and never got heavily oily! Verdict?!? DRENCH YOURSELF IN IT! lol no jk But it does smell amazing so you might want to.

img_6024

img_6020

This #motd has been my go to because it’s so easy. It also focuses more on the skin than the eyes which is the opposite of what I usually do. I start soft and minimal black out and end up with a harsh contour, smokey eye, and bold lip LOL! In these pictures I am wearing all the products I’ve mentioned.

Anyone else obsessed with snapchat filters?! What are some new products you’ve recently tried? Have you tried anything I mentioned??

Colourpop Pressed Shadows & More

dsc_0276

Normally I like to post at least one Makeup Of The Day (MOTD) a week but we are once again in the middle of a move (story of my life, huh?). Instead I thought I’d do a post I’ve been dying to do! A while back I got a visa gift card and did not know what to get.

dsc_0302

Through Ipsy I’ve gotten pans of shadows and blush so I purchased a z palette to hold it all together. Ever since I’ve been wanting to purchase some single shadows but there’s so many options out there that I was over whelmed. As a stay at home with one income I’ve learned that not everything that’s raved about on Youtube is worth your buck. So I narrowed it down to three company’s I’d want to buy single shadows from: Mac, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and Makeup Geek.

dsc_0277
The three bottom shadows are Makeup Geeks Peach smoothie, Cocoa bear, and Faux fur.

dsc_0316Mac didn’t have any and Anatasia Beverly Hills were $12 per pan! (I had a mini heart attack when I saw the price) The best reasonably priced were Makeup Geek. We’ve seen them everywhere and have heard great things. Unlike the ABH shadows these retailed for HALF THE PRICE! I know amazing right?! Of course I bought the most popular shadows: Peach smoothie, Cocoa bear, and Faux fur. I absolutely love them. They’re very pigmented and blend soooo smoothly. I recommend them.

dsc_0273

The stars of this post are the Colourpop Pressed shadows. Anything you’ve heard about these is true! Colourpop specializes in affordable dazzling colors and when it came to these shadows they delivered.  I purchased Running late (the first pan in the palette) which reminds me a lot of peach smoothie, Wake up call (a soft brown that is perfect as a transition shade), Mili I actually received free because Colourpop reached 1,000,000 likes on Facebook (the only shimmer I got), Wait for it (the first pan in the second row) is a pretty soft pink/coral that I love as a transition shade, Stay Golden is the hot pink of the bunch, and last but not least is Piece of Cake which is described as a beautiful Indigo on the Colourpop website.

dsc_0320

Some pros to these shadows are the color pay off. They are very pigmented and a little goes a long way. They are also very very easy to blend and buttery. Like the other Colourpop shadows they come in bright pretty shades. Cons? When you dip your brush you’ll notice it has a lot of fall out. One more . . . the blue is a bit sheer but with some layering it does good. Now this will be music to your ears these only retail for $5!!

dsc_0323

Compared to the Makeup geek the only difference is that they have very little fall out. But I have one more shadow to talk about that I actually got in an Ipsy bag. It is the Ofra cosmetics “You Glow Girl”. It is a colab Ofra Cosmetics did with “dupethat” and it is a pretty pink shimmer that can be used for the face or eyes. I personally use it as just an eyeshadow. My opinion here will be of this product used as an eyeshadow not a highlighter (although I have used it as a highlight). This also has a lot of fall out. But the color pay off is awesome and it is such a beauty to use in a halo eye.

dsc_0309
Makeup Geek: Cocoa Bear
dsc_0303
Colourpop: Stay Golden
dsc_0314
Ofra Cosmetics: You Glow Girl

Over all I am so happy with how my Z palette is looking and I can’t wait to add more shadows to it. Especially from ABH and Mac. *wishful thinking* If you’re thinking of buying single shadows I recommend all three of these companies. (Don’t quote me on the Ofra ones since I only own one.) The price points are awesome, they have a lot of colors to choose from, and the pigmentation is everything!

Do you own any of the Colourpop pressed shadows or Makeup geek?? Any shades I need? Any other companies I should try?!?

Ipsy, Makeup, Monday Favorites, Uncategorized

Monday Favorites!!

I am so beyond ecstatic for today’s post! After a month’s wait my personalized Hoola Bronzer finally arrived. When everyone started posting their Hoola I thought it was something they were only doing for makeup gurus. Then one lovely day my BFF was like, “Have you seen this?!” It was on the Benefit website that anyone can get a personalized Hoola. 😄For a few extra dollars I have my own personalized bronzer. With my name on it. EEEEEKKKKK!!!!! (LOL) I’m going to be 100% honest . . . I can’t make myself use it. This is huge. I think anyone who loves makeup like I do secretly dreams about having their name on a product!

PrisHOOLA
It has my name on the bronzer and the brush it comes with.

ESSIEOPI

Another Monday favorite is this Essie nailpolish in #753 fashion playground. I received this in an Ipsy bag many months ago and have only just used it. I think the minty color is perfect for spring. I like using the O.P.I top coat. It’s the only clear top coat that last through many pool visits. It’s all I use.

NYXPEACHESANDCREAMNYXSTRAWBERRYPARFAITNYXRASPBERRYTART

Lastly, is NYX’s Butter Glosses. I love the formula for these. Its nice and thick without being sticky or slimy. Usually one swipe of these is enough but it can be built to a deeper color without it being overpowering. If I had to compare these to anything it’d be Mac’s Cremesheen Glass. Here I have Peaches and cream, Strawberry Parfait, and Raspberry Tart. As you can guess Peaches and Cream is a soft peach color, Strawberry parfait is a soft pink, and Raspberry tart looks like it would be a deep purple but it actually looks like a light burgundy but can be piled on for a darker berry color. (Side note, my 3yr. old got this because she wanted a purple lipstick.)😂

These products have been my favorite for a while. I have repurchased many of them over and over. They’re here to stay!

What are some of the products you love to repurchase?? Or which have been your favorites as of laretely?

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed this post!

What’s in my makeup bag!

As I mentioned before we are in the process of moving and I already packed most of my makeup. In my every day makeup bag I kept my every day essentials.

This is my every day makeup bag. It’s huge because it’s for packing underwear when traveling (lol) but I love the colors so I will use it and it was free!!

It’s pretty spacious as you can see and fits everything perfectly!

I always prime with Benefits Porefessional and use it cosmetics bye bye under eye. I’ve been giving L’oreals Infallible pro-matte foundation another chance since I got my acne under control so now I know it wasn’t the foundation breaking me out. I use Mac’s concealer to highlight and then set it all with Mac’s face powder. For eyes I’ve been using Urban Decay’s Naked basics palette. Mascara as usual, too faced Better than sex and Benefit’s Roller lash. For my sharp wings of course I use my trusty Kat Von D ink! liner in trooper

For blush I’ve been using Milani’s baked blush in 05 Luminoso and to highlight I use my favorite from the balm Mary Lou-manizer. Because my perfumes are also packed I left out a sample scent (because I’m obsessed and want to purchase it) and 2 roller perfumes. The sample is Marc Jacobs Decadence. The big roller perfume is Marc Jacobs and I can’t remember the name of it. But it’s a fresh floral scent. The smaller roller is Jor’el Parker Femina and I actually received this in one my of ipsy bags. This has such a pretty, smooth, girly scent that goes on a bit strong but fades throughout the day to the point where you can’t smell it but other people can.

Of course I have other quads by Wet n Wild I use and other blushes. These pictured are just what I’ve been gravitating to since packing up the rest. I’ve been going for very minimal looks with a lot of glow. Fully embracing spring!🌴🌺🌸💐🌷🌴

What’s in your makeup bag? Or what are some of your every day staples/must haves??

Living in Florida you would think I’d have a tan all year around. So I told myself I’d use my Too Faced Born This Way foundation and would be ok. Wrong! I had to wear a shirt with a high collar! When I was color matched for the foundation I was obviously tanned. Or maybe I should just color match myself?! I’m not sure who is to blame but I made it work!!

As always I primed with my Benefit Cosmetics Porefessional face primer. Concealed with NYX HD Concealer. Then I did foundation. All set with Mac’s Studio fix powder foundation. To set my under eye I used the Laura Mercier translucent powder.

For eyes I primed with Elizabeth Mott Thank Me Later eyeshadow primer. In the crease I used Lazarus from the Kat Von D ‘Shade & Light’ eye palette. For the brow bone I used Liberatus from the same palette and Lucius on the lid. That’s it. I told myself I was going for a “simple look”. For eyeliner, Kat Von D’s Ink Liner in trooper (I think I put the wrong name in other posts!! Sorry!). Mascara as always Roller Lash and Better Than Sex.

To warm up the face (not that I needed it lol!) and contour I used my favorite NYC Sunny bronzing face powder. For blush Milani’s baked blush in 05 Luminoso.  As a highlight Mary-Lou Minzer. And on the lips I just did a little gloss from NYX in Peaches and Cream.

I was happy with the finished look. Even though I messed up with the foundation I made it work, the beauty of makeup! In the end I think I went a little heavy on the eyes but it’s still one of my go to looks. As you can see I have acne and my skin isn’t perfect but that doesn’t hold me back and I hope no one else does. We are beautiful no matter what. Inside and out!

Brushes. . . Brushes Galore!

If you know me personally then you already know that I am a make up brush junkie! If you are just joining me and plan to stay a while you will soon find out that, I AM A BRUSH JUNKIE! It started with this unrealistic  idea that I needed a specific brush for a specific face section to be any good. With people on youtube, instagram, and pinterest shoving content down your throat it’s easy to get caught up in these unrealistic expectations. More brushes doesn’t make you any better or less of a makeup lover, trust me! Now a days I’m more of “conscious” shopper. Is it animal cruelty free, does it shed, whats the price?? (lol)

So here I am today to talk about a brand I love and to rant, a little.

3:3:16-1

I never put much thought when I bought a sharpener. I figured they all do the same thing right?? WRONG!!!!! Im a bargain shopper, a ‘we don’t have much money’ shopper, so naturally I opted for the $0.99 sharpener and I regret it soooooooo much! I’ve ruined a few eyeliners and lip liners. So finally I told myself I’d waste a little more on something that in the long run would save me money. My old sharpener was not sharpening at all, would break off whatever I did manage to sharpen, and at times would completely pull out the product. Anyone else experience this? Any suggestions on a good sharpener??

3:3:16-2

Is anyone else obsessed with Real Technique brushes?? They are such good brushes and so affordable. My hope is to one day own all the sets they have (lol) I can’t help myself! The story behind the Real Technique creators is pretty awesome. It’s every girls dream come true. . . or maybe just mine! Here’s the Real Techniques website

3:3:16-3

This here is their blush brush. I always walk by it in the store and admire it. Finally I threw it in the cart and let the hubs pay for it. GUILT FREE! These brushes are so worth it. I’ve washed mine multiple times and have yet to experience ANY shedding. For me that’s a plus because I hate when I get little bristles left behind that itch. They are easy to clean and are synthetic too.  This specific brush retails for $9 on their website. Not bad considering a MAC blush brush is $35. I’ve seen them for sale at Ulta, Walmart, and even some Walgreens. 3:3:16-4

(Btw excuse the dirty brushes. Tonight is bath night for these babies) Pictured here: the big orange one is Powder brush $10, Pink dome brush is the Blush brush $9, Big white one is a Duo-Fiber face brush, the other small white brush is also a Duo-Fiber contour brush which comes in a set with another brush (Duo-Fiber eye brush) and retails for $20. The other orange brush is part of the Core Collection and its a Contour brush, this set retails for $18 and it includes 3 other brushes. The two purple brushes are from the Starter Set and its a Base shadow brush and a Brow Brush, this set retails for $18 and it includes 3 more eye brushes. The bag is from Ipsy.

So lets talk brushes! Any that you love and suggest??

I wasn’t sure if I was going to post another make up of the day so soon since I haven’t been wearing much makeup lately. But I finally got around to using my Too Faced Bon Bon palette!

Here is the look I created. I was so happy with it and drew inspiration from Missy Lyn on YouTube.

I tried something different and primed my eyelids with Mac’s pro long wear concealer and set it with the Laura Mercier translucent setting powder. As a transition shade I used mocha from the Bon Bon palette. Then taking Bordeaux on the outer corner and inner corner I slowly built up the shades intensity. With a little fix+ on my brush I put café au lait in the center of the lid. As a brow bone highlight I used the Balms Mary Lou minizer as well as the at the inner corners. As always as an eyeliner I used Kat Von D’s tattoo liner in trooper. For mascara I combined Benefit’s Roller lash and Too faced Better than sex. My favorite combination.

Like I said I was soooo happy with the end results! Here is the same pic with a filter.

#MOTD

One of my favorite type of posts to see on YouTube, Pinterest, and Instagram is like get ready with me or makeup of the day. So I decided to do my own little post of one. It’s not every day I get to do a full face of makeup so when I do I like to try new products, new looks, and truly push myself to try new techniques.

So here it is!! The face behind the screen!

In this picture there’s a filter applied.

Here it is in natural light.

On the eyes I used Tarte’s Tartlette 2 in bloom Amazonian clay palette and Kat Von D’s tattoo liquid liner. For mascara I combine Benefits Roller lash super curling and lifting mascara and Too faced Better than sex.

On the face I primed with Benefit cosmetics Porefessional face primer, concealed with Mac’s Pro long wear concealer, for foundation I use Estee Lauders Double wear stay-in-place face foundation, set all of it with Mac’s Pro long wear pressed powder. I contour with Too faced  chocolate soliel matte bronzer in milk chocolate and warm up the face with NYC’s 720 Sunny. I’m not 100% sure on the blush because it’s a pan I received in one of my Ipsy bags in the past. As a highlighter I used the Balms Mary Lou minizer.

On the lips I used Mac’s Ruby woo. I set the whole look with Urban Decay’s All nighter makeup setting spray!

I’m always so self conscious when I do a smokey eye that I’ve been slowly building up the intensity and for now this is as smokey as I get! I had so much fun with this look and truly pulled myself out of my comfort zone. Altough I did change the lip to a nude after dinner it all still worked so well together.

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoy everyone else’s!
