My Boxycharm!!!

There is something I absolutely love about these subscription boxes/bags. Perhaps its the fact that every month feels like I’m gifting myself something new. Or the opportunity to experience new products for a low price.

I’ve been part of the Ipsy family for a while now I believe two years. I liked that for $10 I was able to meet new products that have been “specifically” picked for me. Therefore I went ahead and jumped on the Boxycharm wagon.

My best friend gave Birchbox a shot and after one month she wasn’t pleased. Naturally I was nervous. Mainly because unlike Ipsy, Boxycharm is $21. The difference? Boxycharm sent all full-sized items.

Lets start off this post with my favorite: Brushes! You already know I am a Luxie addict. I have received its brushes in the past and have personally purchased many on my own. This #640 Pro Precision Tapered brush retails for $24. That in itself paid for the box! WINNING!

As you know Luxie beauty is cruelty free and vegan. Therefore its been one of my go to for brushes aside from Real Techniques. This specific brush I’ve used to apply highlight and blush (when I want a light wash of color).

DSC_0521

Speaking of highlight I got this beauty as well! I first heard of Artist Couture when Jackieaina on YouTube did a collab with them.

DSC_0523

This Diamond Glow Powder in Illuminati is all that. . . and more! It’s a loose highlight. This is my first time experiencing a loose highlight since most I get are pressed. I like to pair it with my Colourpop highlight. Since that one has a mousse consistency I feel like it looks intensified paired with this highlight.

This highlight is cruelty free and vegan. YAY!! This retails for $26.99 on the website.

This shimmering powder packs a high glow with a light silver and champagne iridescence, suitable only for true glow getters! This all–natural loose powder is finely milled.  With versatility in use, it is suitable for light to dark skin tones. This product can be used on your face to highlight, or on your eyes, lips and body.  Artist Couture website

Ok, Soo for me receiving a whole eyeshadow palette was exciting. We all know how pricey palettes can get and compared to Ipsy’s one shadow at a time getting this was thrilling! LOL!

This palette 1 by RealHer left me at a loss for words. I don’t always gravitate to shimmers. Just isn’t me. BUT WOW! The pigmentation is amazing. As you can see it has very little almost NO fallout. I wish I would’ve done swatches to do it justice. The colors are gorgeous and right up my neutral alley. Retails for $28

This palette has a rich-pigmented hues and sexy combinations designed for all eye colors and skin tones. Delight in long-wearing, crease-resistant, fade-resistant, buildable colors in textures raging from velvety smooth mattes to metallic sheens. -Boxycharm website

How late am I with getting a Ofra Cosmetics liquid lip??? In my defense liquid lipsticks scare me because of an allergic reaction I once got to one. But that’s the beauty of these subscription boxes, huh?

DSC_0547

DSC_0553

I received this beautiful shade of pink. In the picture it looks like a vibrant pink but because of my tan skin tone it looks a bit deeper on me. It is everything it says and more. It isn’t dry, doesn’t flake, and it doesn’t leave a nasty white line on the inner part of the lips like some liquid lipsticks do. Even more reasons to be scared of them, haha!!

Like with most lip products whether they’re matte, liquid, or even a gloss I like to moisturize before applying a product on. Most times I use just some chapstick while I do my face and eyeshadow first. This product retails for $19.90.

DSC_0555-2

Last but not least I got 3 facial sheet masks by Biobelle. I haven’t used many sheet masks so . . . you know me, I GOT EXCITED! lol!

Biobelle’s sheet masks give your skin an instant boost, while deeply hydrating and evening your skin tone, revealing gorgeous, glowing skin! Biobelle’s Award-winning TENCEL ® fiber adheres perfectly and delivers antioxidants to your skin faster and deeper.- Boxycharm website

DSC_0561

I received 3: First up is “I woke up like this”- enhances skin natural glow. With wild rose and vitamin C. Next is “#beauty secret”- Moisturizes to help the skin appear smooth and firm. With pomegranate and hyaluronic acid. Lastly, “#primer”- Prep the skin for a flawless makeup application. With tea tree oil, rosehip extract, and vitamin C. Enhances radiance, minimizes pores, and evens skin tone. These retail for $14.97

As you can see almost every one of these products paid for the box alone. I am so satisfied with it and I will stick to it. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of options like with Ipsy where everyone gets something different. Kind of looks like everyone gets the same products just in different colors. But for being full size that’s fine with me!

I want to end this post with an apology. I know I haven’t been consistent with my posts but as some of you may remember my husband is deployed and it gets a bit hectic by myself. While that’s no excuse I would still like to apologize!

Thanks for sticking around this long! Does anyone else get Boxycharm and absolutely loves it? Is it enough to cancel Ipsy?? Thoughts??

Colourpop Pressed Shadows & More

dsc_0276

Normally I like to post at least one Makeup Of The Day (MOTD) a week but we are once again in the middle of a move (story of my life, huh?). Instead I thought I’d do a post I’ve been dying to do! A while back I got a visa gift card and did not know what to get.

dsc_0302

Through Ipsy I’ve gotten pans of shadows and blush so I purchased a z palette to hold it all together. Ever since I’ve been wanting to purchase some single shadows but there’s so many options out there that I was over whelmed. As a stay at home with one income I’ve learned that not everything that’s raved about on Youtube is worth your buck. So I narrowed it down to three company’s I’d want to buy single shadows from: Mac, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and Makeup Geek.

dsc_0277
The three bottom shadows are Makeup Geeks Peach smoothie, Cocoa bear, and Faux fur.

dsc_0316Mac didn’t have any and Anatasia Beverly Hills were $12 per pan! (I had a mini heart attack when I saw the price) The best reasonably priced were Makeup Geek. We’ve seen them everywhere and have heard great things. Unlike the ABH shadows these retailed for HALF THE PRICE! I know amazing right?! Of course I bought the most popular shadows: Peach smoothie, Cocoa bear, and Faux fur. I absolutely love them. They’re very pigmented and blend soooo smoothly. I recommend them.

dsc_0273

The stars of this post are the Colourpop Pressed shadows. Anything you’ve heard about these is true! Colourpop specializes in affordable dazzling colors and when it came to these shadows they delivered.  I purchased Running late (the first pan in the palette) which reminds me a lot of peach smoothie, Wake up call (a soft brown that is perfect as a transition shade), Mili I actually received free because Colourpop reached 1,000,000 likes on Facebook (the only shimmer I got), Wait for it (the first pan in the second row) is a pretty soft pink/coral that I love as a transition shade, Stay Golden is the hot pink of the bunch, and last but not least is Piece of Cake which is described as a beautiful Indigo on the Colourpop website.

dsc_0320

Some pros to these shadows are the color pay off. They are very pigmented and a little goes a long way. They are also very very easy to blend and buttery. Like the other Colourpop shadows they come in bright pretty shades. Cons? When you dip your brush you’ll notice it has a lot of fall out. One more . . . the blue is a bit sheer but with some layering it does good. Now this will be music to your ears these only retail for $5!!

dsc_0323

Compared to the Makeup geek the only difference is that they have very little fall out. But I have one more shadow to talk about that I actually got in an Ipsy bag. It is the Ofra cosmetics “You Glow Girl”. It is a colab Ofra Cosmetics did with “dupethat” and it is a pretty pink shimmer that can be used for the face or eyes. I personally use it as just an eyeshadow. My opinion here will be of this product used as an eyeshadow not a highlighter (although I have used it as a highlight). This also has a lot of fall out. But the color pay off is awesome and it is such a beauty to use in a halo eye.

Colourpop: Stay Golden

Ofra Cosmetics: You Glow Girl

Over all I am so happy with how my Z palette is looking and I can’t wait to add more shadows to it. Especially from ABH and Mac. *wishful thinking* If you’re thinking of buying single shadows I recommend all three of these companies. (Don’t quote me on the Ofra ones since I only own one.) The price points are awesome, they have a lot of colors to choose from, and the pigmentation is everything!

Do you own any of the Colourpop pressed shadows or Makeup geek?? Any shades I need? Any other companies I should try?!?

Ipsy

Ipsy February Glam Bag

This months Ipsy’s glam bag was themed “Much Love”. dsc_0140The bag is a denim material with a bright orange zipper. I’ve had Ipsy for over a year and I’m happy with it. I’ve been introduced to some amazing companies and with their discounts and promotions I’ve gotten so many great items for cheap.

dsc_0157

One of those great things I’ve been introduced to and have purchased myself is Luxie Beauty products. I like that they’re vegan and synthetic. Through Ipsy I’ve gotten an angled brush I use in my every day routine for blush. This here is their actual blush brush which I read was good for applying highlight.

Purchased with their 30% off offer I got several eye brushes. I AM OBSESSED! They’ve all been rose gold but they have onyx noir and the dreamcatcher collection which is a pretty periwinkle.

 dsc_0159

Up next is NYX’s butter lipstick. I haven’t tried it yet so I don’t know if I love it, yet. I usually love NYX products so I can’t wait to try it. These retail for  $6 on the NYX website

“Treat your lips to a kiss of smooth, creamy color with our irresistible Butter Lipsticks in 12 new luscious shades. The formula’s delicate satin texture fused with highly saturated color delivers full-yet-lightweight coverage with a luxurious satin finish.” –NYX

dsc_0161

I’ve received many bellapierre products and with them its a hit or miss. Some I’ve loved some I hated. . . Hate is such a strong word, I’ve disliked. LOL! This is the Volumelash waterproof mascara. I haven’t tried it but as I was checking it out I noted it has no smell (yay) and the bristles are spaced which means it’ll work awesome to separate the lashes.

“The innovative brush and formula of Volume Lash Waterproof Mascara provide thicker, fuller lashes that won’t clump or flake throughout the day. Vitamin E and Castor Oil work to strengthen lashes, ensuring lashes stay healthy and beautiful.” –bellapierre

dsc_0168

I’ve been giving myself my own manicures since having the baby because there is no time to go to a nail salon so of course I was excited when I saw I was getting this product. The color itself is a little funky and it seems to have separated in the bottle. This could be because it sat in our mailbox for a few days in Florida heat. I’ve never tried any of this company’s products but I have high hopes because it is vegan and cruelty free. The name of the polish is $12 latte, how cute?!? Trust Fund Beauty

dsc_0166dsc_0164 This products reminds me of something similar I own and I swear by. The Sephora Collection: Solid Brush Cleaner. I LOVE IT! I am hoping I love this just as much because it smells amazing. This is the Japonesque Coconut Solid Brush Cleaner. It is a goat milk formula product . . . kinda weird. This is sold at Ulta I’m not sure where else.

” Maintain the beauty of your brushes with Japonesque’s gentle goat-milk cleansing balm in this Solid Brush Cleanser. Effective emollient formula quickly dissolves make-up and impurities to deep cleanse and condition your brush bristles for effortless professional brush cleaning. Freshly scented and coconut scented solid formulas deliver instant mess-free results and is the perfect travel-friendly cleansing companion.” –Ulta

The next Wet N Wild highlights came with my bag because I redeemed points. With Ipsy for every product you review you get points and when you accumulate enough points you can redeem them for products. I’ve done this plenty of times for stuff I’ve received in my bag and wanted more of. I’m not sure if these highlights were the ones everyone was raving about but for free I can’t complain. I honestly stick to two highlighters. My Laura Geller Gilded Honey and the Balms Mary-Lou Manizer. It’s exciting to try new stuff.

First up is Crown of my Canopy which is a peachy color and the second is Precious Petals which is a gold shade. I didn’t swatch them but I did look up reviews and everyone seems to love them! Yay!! Do you own these highlighting powders? Do you love them?

dsc_0142

dsc_0147

Over all I was so pleased with my Feb Ipsy bag. I’ve been debating whether to keep my subscription or not but every time I go to cancel it I see next months products and I just can’t. I have noticed the bags have improved the more I review what I receive so if you have an Ipsy subscription make sure you’re reviewing. Not only will it personalize your bag it will rack up those points! lol!

How was your Ipsy bag? Do you have any of these products, thoughts??

Brushes, Monday Favorites, Uncategorized

Monday faves, it’s BRUSHES!

As the title says today’s Monday Faves will be brushes. I will tell you all about my favorite eye brushes. My brush obsession knows no limits!! From eye brushes, to face, even body brushes, I have them all! We did a little belated mothers day shopping and I almost got brushes. KEYWORD: almost, LOL! (I’m going to apologize in advance for not using my Nikon for this post.)

MORPHE

For setting my eye primer or eye concealer I like using a mini angled buffer by Morphe from the 690 – 6 PIECE DELUXE CONTOUR SET. I got this set from Hautelook for 50% off so it was a steal. The bristles are very soft on the lids. I don’t know how it would blend but just for setting it does amazing.

LUXIESONIAKASHUK

I have several brushes I like for my crease. My ultimate favorite ‘I freak out’ when I lose it is the #109 By Sonia Kashuk. At $5.99 it’s a great brush. Blends seamlessly, is very soft on the lids, and has minimal shedding. Another crease favorite is Luxie’s #205 Tapered Blending Brush. I used to like this brush for my outer corner until I started using it’s sister brush. So one day when my Sonia Kashuk was dirty I picked up this 205 and have never looked back. It’s become one of my must haves, love it forever, “holy grail” blending brush.

UDSIGMA

Ok, so I’m going to be completely honest with you guys; I look up everything I post. I don’t like giving you guys the wrong info. Sooooo in doing just that I found out Urban Decay actually sells the palette brushes individually. HOW DID I NOT KNOW?!? Lol, anyway, I love this brush from my Naked 2 palette to pack on shadow on the lid. If thats dirty my Sigma E55 from the Color Pop Collection does amazing.

ELFBRUSH

I enjoy little gems in the rough and this e.l.f. crease brush is just that. At only a $1 I think a lot of people look past it. I don’t use it as the name suggests but that’s the beauty of makeup, anything goes. I use this inexpensive brush to pack on color in my outer corner. I then blend that out with another brush. Works amazing! The bristles are a bit stiff that’s why I personally don’t use it for the crease but thats just MY opinion.

LUXIE BRUSHES

I like smoking out my bottom lashes with Luxie’s #221 Flat Definer and #231 Small Tapered Blending brush. All these Luxie eye brushes came in a set together I purchased through Ipsy for $25! Winning!

DETAIL SHADOW BRUSH

Last but not least is this cute, random, black brush I like for applying inner corner highlight. This brush came from the very first set of brushes I ever purchased and I cannot remember the name of it. If I had to compare it to another brush I’d say it performs just like Real Techniques accent brush: designed for precision detailing, spotlighting, highlighting, and smudging from the Starter Set .

I cannot have enough brushes and there’s a few sets out there that I have my eyes on. I try to find brushes that are vegan. Sadly sometimes I don’t do my research and I have purchased brushes that are from ‘animal hair’.

What are some of your favorite eye brushes? Any you recommend? Also, would anyone like to see my little Mother’s day haul? lol

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed this post!

Cruelty Free, Ipsy, Makeup

Rose Gold Beauties

2:24:16-3So I told myself I would try and post at least 3 times a week so here I am!! Today I bring you these rose gold beauties that I am head over heels in love with. I first heard about Luxie Beauty through Ipsy. They sent me a blending brush in one of my monthly bags. Soon after receiving it I went on their website and purchased two more. These brushes are amazing, affordable, AND cruelty free!! I mean can it get any better than all that?!? Well yes, yes it can!!

“Flashback to the 90’s, when high quality and synthetic bristles were oxymorons in the world of makeup brushes. Seeing this shortage, yet battling with sensitive and allergy-prone skin herself, founder Tammy Huynh decided to take matters into her own hands.

“All of the cosmetic brands I tried broke me out,” she said. With over eight years of experience in the beauty industry, she envisioned a cosmetics line that wasn’t just for a pretty face, but a wholesome lifestyle.

After meeting husband Michael Tran, she was pushed to launch Luxie in 2014. The goal? Provide conscientious and beneficial makeup products to women. According to Michael, Tammy was his inspiration. With a creative background, he envisioned a pink and rose gold makeup brush, which became their first makeup brush line.

The Luxie signature is vegan, cruelty-free, hypoallergenic and high-quality.

Every single product has a purpose.

It was for that reason that Luxie’s vegan eyeshadow line is infused with vitamins C and E to provide added benefits to the skin. Or why each handcrafted makeup brush is coated with a revolutionary antibacterial solution. Luxie combines quality, conscience and character.

Since then, Luxie has delivered high-quality cosmetic products and inspired women everywhere to express their beauty. Based in San Jose, California, Luxie offers over 200 cosmetics products and fosters an online community of women who know that beauty is more than skin deep.

The Luxie woman owns who she is and what she wants.

She is aware that beauty and health are not mutually exclusive.

And she adds a touch of glamour into every area of her life.”

That is the ‘about us’ from their website. The brushes speak for themselves. They are soft, don’t shed at all, blend beautifully, and like she said they have never upset my skin. Sometimes certain brushes even after washing feel like they burn my skin.

These brushes vary in price from $10 and up. Luckily the BFF told me about a sale Ipsy had going on and I purchased the ‘eye set’ for $25 plus free of tax and free shipping. (Another awesome reason to join Ipsy lol.) In the eye set came #221 Flat definer, #207 Medium angled shading, #215 Small angle, #235 Blending, and #231 Small tapered blending.

If you love pink these are for YOU! They are adorable, fluffy, affordable, and amazing.

2:24:16-2

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed this post and hopefully I put you on to some awesome new brushes!!!!
