Updated Face Routine!

Updated Face Routine!

I never thought I’d be the type of person whose makeup routine would change. Since I started wearing makeup I’ve always been oily. Regardless if I wear makeup or not. I oil up like there’s no tomorrow. But this winter that has changed! Let me tell you its thrown me for a loop.

I was pretty set on using primers that would keep me matte. Especially with living here in Florida I never imagined I’d experience “dry” skin. Its strange!

First things first I double moisturize. Crazy, I know! I have dry patches therefore I will double moisturize in those areas. Everywhere else I just stick to one. My overall face moisturizer is my trusty Philosophy Renewed Hope In A Jar. Then I layer a small amount of Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet.

For primer I’ve only recently changed it to Dr. Brandts Pores No More Luminizer Primer. I was on the hunt for a primer that would make my dull skin luminous since I felt like with dry skin adding layers of color correcting wasn’t for me. So a little hack I had going was I’d combine a small amount of liquid highlighter with my Benefit’s PoreFessional Face Primer. This worked good but I wanted to eliminate a step to my routine.

Foundation hasn’t changed. . . I’m still a die-hard fan of Wet & Wild Photofocus Foundation. I have to combine two colors which in a way is a win because I can change it up if need be. Something else that has changed is my concealer. I’ve opted for a shade lighter than my foundation for a every day look. I’ve been obsessed with L.A Girl concealer and I am still setting my makeup with RCMA setting powder.

Something new I do that I’m not sure if I have mentioned it before is instead bronzing with a bronzer I have opted to bronze with MAC’s Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation. I am in the shade NC42 during the summer and NC40 during winter (or when im not in the sun much). I just place that in a 3 motion on the face. Then to contour I use Benefit’s Hoola Matte Bronzer and I don’t bring that up to my forehead. Even tanned I’ve felt it bronzed me way too much.

Eyebrows are basic just Essence brow gel. Mascara is still L’oreal telescopic. Hightligher is Maybelline’s Facestudio Master Chrome Metallic Hightligheter in Molten Gold. My lips have been super basic too, MAC’s Stripdown. Thats it. IMG_0910

As you can see it is seriously my go to makeup look. I have bought some new goodies I can’t wait to try out that are for “dry” skin. So a new post with that will be coming soon.

Ok, now we can acknowledge the hair. LOL!! This post is about to get serious. . . I was pregnant. Sadly we lost the baby a few weeks ago. Wearing makeup and changing my hair is an effort to be myself again. I was in a deep funk which was borderline depression and I felt I needed change. I needed some color in my life when it all felt so dark and gray.

To achieve this color I used Lime Crime’s Moonchild. It obviously wasnt enough and I will be going over it again. But so far I like it! A LOT!! (I will be including the dye in my upcoming posts. If anyones interested.)

What are some tips you have for seasonal dry skin? Any new favorite makeup I should know about?? Tips for dyed hair??

I feel like lately my #motd’s have been sooo simple.  Some days I go so basic and others I go all out like this Pink look. But one thing that stays the same is not filling in my eyebrows. I haven’t found a product I can work with or like. I have thick eyebrows as it is even after I wax so a usual clear gel is enough.

I however have not waxed so I do the whole ‘defining’ the eyebrows trick with concealer to hide those pesky hairs. I noticed that it left my eyebrows looking plain so I was on a hunt for an eyebrow pencil.

I can’t justify purchasing something super expensive since I hardly fill them in but let me RAVE bout this L’oreal Brow stylist definer. It has a super fine tip. I pull at my eyebrows when I’m anxious/nervous and have spots missing hair and the small tip makes it so easy to fill it in.

Naturally when looking into a product I check up reviews and Heidicupcake  on YouTube said  the spoolie is similar to Anastasia Beverly Hills eyebrow pencil. I’ve never owned that product so I have no clue if it’s true. Haha!! But for me personally this pencil and spoolie work amazing!

I still need a lot of practice working on my eyebrows, I know, but this pencil combined with e.l.f’s clear eyebrow gel works wonders for me! I can’t wait to wax my eyebrows and have a thinner brow to play with the pencil a little more. Now, these are just my opinions on this product. . . So would I recommend it?! If like me you’re a make up lover on a budget, then yes. Yes I would!! I believe it was only $7 at Walmart. I did one day without the clear gel (first picture) and one with it and my faux eyebrows stayed in place all day.

On the eyes I used the morphe 35N palette. If you own any Morphe palette then you know the shadows don’t have a name on it. But I went with a super soft brown shade in the crease and on the lid I used Too Faced Chocolate bar’s Marzipan. I was inspired by KathleenLights recent tutorial. Inner corner highlight and tip of the nose is Benefits Mary-Lou Manizer.  On the lips I did just a little of NYX’s Instabul.  (Oh, and please ignore the hormonal planet that made an appearance above my lip 😖😖.) Easy peasy!

What are some of your favorite eyebrow       methods/products you recommend?!

What’s in my makeup bag!

What’s in my makeup bag!

As I mentioned before we are in the process of moving and I already packed most of my makeup. In my every day makeup bag I kept my every day essentials.

This is my every day makeup bag. It’s huge because it’s for packing underwear when traveling (lol) but I love the colors so I will use it and it was free!!

It’s pretty spacious as you can see and fits everything perfectly!

I always prime with Benefits Porefessional and use it cosmetics bye bye under eye. I’ve been giving L’oreals Infallible pro-matte foundation another chance since I got my acne under control so now I know it wasn’t the foundation breaking me out. I use Mac’s concealer to highlight and then set it all with Mac’s face powder. For eyes I’ve been using Urban Decay’s Naked basics palette. Mascara as usual, too faced Better than sex and Benefit’s Roller lash. For my sharp wings of course I use my trusty Kat Von D ink! liner in trooper

For blush I’ve been using Milani’s baked blush in 05 Luminoso and to highlight I use my favorite from the balm Mary Lou-manizer. Because my perfumes are also packed I left out a sample scent (because I’m obsessed and want to purchase it) and 2 roller perfumes. The sample is Marc Jacobs Decadence. The big roller perfume is Marc Jacobs and I can’t remember the name of it. But it’s a fresh floral scent. The smaller roller is Jor’el Parker Femina and I actually received this in one my of ipsy bags. This has such a pretty, smooth, girly scent that goes on a bit strong but fades throughout the day to the point where you can’t smell it but other people can.

Of course I have other quads by Wet n Wild I use and other blushes. These pictured are just what I’ve been gravitating to since packing up the rest. I’ve been going for very minimal looks with a lot of glow. Fully embracing spring!🌴🌺🌸💐🌷🌴

What’s in your makeup bag? Or what are some of your every day staples/must haves??
