Blondes have more Fun or Brunettes?

I’ve waited a while to make this post! I’ve wanted to change my hair color for soooo long now. Last year I had “Enchanted forest” (from Manic Panic) green and once that cleared up I was ready for MORE! It’s been a goal of mine to go blonde. Perhaps to annoy the Hubs since he’s said he doesn’t like blonde or maybe just to figure out who has more fun; Blondes or Brunettes???

IMG_6462-2

My natural color is this ashy brown. So for me the transition was easy.

We started off with one bleach session and toned it a cool grey with Wella toner. It actually looked ashy like my natural color. IMG_0189-2

Then we did a second round of bleach. That 2nd time we didn’t tone it and left it the bright golden-yellow color. Which btw I totally rocked!

IMG_0489-2

Lastly, we did one last round of bleach and toned it again with Wella’s blue and violet toner to eliminate the orange and yellow from my hair. I love the results and maybe once we retouch my roots I’ll bleach and tone one more time. My hair has done so good with the whole process! I’m hoping using a “purple” shampoo will help eiliminate the need to tone it often. But I do see myself with some pastel colors in the future so we’ll see!

Current Obsession. . . It’s Perfumes!!

DSC_0035-3.jpg

I am the type of person who loves to drench myself in perfume therefore I like to have options. I actually get most of my scent ideas from my best friend. Most of the perfumes I’ll be talking about my best friend put me on to!

DSC_0031.jpg

One of my ultimate favorites of all time is this CK in2 you for her. It smells so good and not girly at all. I could seriously wear mens cologne and be ok with it. This perfume gives off a nice manly scent while still being feminine. I cant explain it. I’ve repurchased it twice already!

Flora by Gucci is a classic scent. I don’t usually go for fruity scents. It’s just not me! And this is far from fruity! Therefore its right up my alley!

Gucci Flora is a subtle, sophisticated, floral fragrance inspired by princesses from the past, present, and future. The Flora Donna is a young, classic, and refined woman with the ‘Gucci edge’ of power and sensuality. The first Flora scarf was exclusively designed for Princess Grace of Monaco in 1966 and soon became one of the most popular Gucci icons. This scent is an expression of the Flora legacy. Its seductive layers mirror the playful details and bright colors that channel the heart of a fashion empire. –Sephora website

DSC_0028.jpg

FlowerBomb by Viktor & Rolf is a crowd favorite! Its been seen all over YouTube and Pinterest. For good reason, it has a rich floral aroma that lingers but doesn’t overpower the senses.

I was introduced to Jimmy Choo by my sister and have been loving it!

An exotic fragrance for the strong and modern Jimmy Choo woman. A sensual fruity chypre with top notes of pear and sweet Italian orange, heart notes of tiger orchid and bottom notes of toffee and Indonesian patchouli. Exotic prints are part of the Jimmy Choo DNA and the python print wrapped around the packaging is an iconic signature reference to this. –Jimmy Choo website

Sexy, fresh Oriental fragrance recalls the irrepressible spirit of the young Coco Chanel. An elegant, luxurious spray closest in strength and character to the parfum form. Spray lightly on pulse points morning and evening. The classic bottle signifies personal luxury and is a welcome addition to any dressing table. Sephora website

What are some of your favorite perfumes you consider “holy grails”? Anything new I should try?

Life Update: Deployment, Moving, & no more puppy!

Untitled-5.jpg

As the title says some changes have happened in our lives. I can’t tell you which one has been the hardest on us. In the next few weeks the husband will be leaving us to go over seas for a 6 month deployment. This will be the 3rd deployment we experience as a couple. This one is especially hard on me because now we have two kids. The first one we were just engaged. The second I was pregnant and gave birth to our daughter while he was gone. And this one he’s leaving behind two kids and will be missing our daughters first day of school, her birthday, and the babies first Halloween (this is important to me, LOL).

Because of the deployment I decided to stay with my family up in Chicago. This is such a change from the weather to giving up our own space. We will stay with my parents. I’m very excited to be around family and to have some extra hands to help. I however do feel bad the hubs will have to pack up the whole house on his own, again!

And last but not least Chase the black Pomeranian went to his forever home. He was a gift for my mother and we weren’t sure if she was going to like him. Luckily she did and he gets along with her French papillon. She’s a much older dog and even so they got along perfectly fine!

On to some happy news: my picture from my March Ipsy glam bag was featured on the Beau Gachis Instagram! So exciting!

Any other military spouses out there? Any advice? Any advice on how to deal and help the kids adjust to the change??

Until next time. . .

Laura Mercier & RCMA Setting Powder

Laura Mercier

If like me you tend to get oily then you understand the importance of a setting powder. I am also the type of person that when they find something that works I will stick to it indefinitely if possible, lol! That was the case with the Laura Mercier translucent setting powder.

DSC_0404-2.png

I swear by it! Especially during hot Florida summers. I thought nothing could beat it! It has some amazing properties:

Modern Matte Finish

Creates a modern matte finish with a touch of sheer coverage. The translucent shade works on virtually all skin tones.

Soft-Focus Effect for a More Flawless Look

Like all Laura Mercier Setting Powders, it has a soft-focus effect that subtly blurs the look of fine lines and imperfections. Doesn’t settle into fine lines or pores and never looks cakey.

Formulation Details

Oil-free. Non-comedogenic. Non-caking. Dermatologically tested. Laura Mercier Website

BUT I noticed that for winter it was horrible. It dried my under eye soooo much! I mean to the point that I felt some tightening in that area that was very uncomfortable. I tried several setting sprays and even a more “dewey” concealer for my under eye but I wasn’t having it. It’s very important for me to have my under eye set because I have a natural deep crease below my lower lash line that if not set correctly foundation and concealer while pile up in there. Its very annoying because I noticed that affect makes me look tired.

That’s when I went on a quest and considered a pressed setting powder. Which I was using MAC’s powdered foundation to set the rest of my face but it was clinging to my dry spots I mentioned in this post. I know I know a powder foundation isn’t a setting powder but I had it so I gave it a shot. Then my BFF mentioned the RCMA setting powder. She never steers me wrong so naturally I looked into it. I looked at many reviews and everyone seemed to love it.

DSC_0411.png

When you first see it its a little strange because of the packaging it comes in. It looks like something that belongs in the kitchen in the seasoning section! LOL! But don’t be put off by it. This loose powder is just as amazing as the Laura Mercier one. It sets beautifully on the skin. Has no flash back which if you’re going out and are taking pictures with the flash on you know this is important. The best part is how affordable it is. While the big container of the Laura Mercier retails for $38 this one is only $12. It can be found here. It doesn’t do the drying thing the other one did which I was so thankful for. And it sets beautifully with any setting spray. Now like my best friend mentioned it does look a bit white after you apply it but that can be solved with some setting spray!

Now both these powders can be applied with a damp beauty blender, a setting brush, even a big puffy brush like I pictured. But if you’re not into baking (which you can do with both powders) a brush will do just as good as the sponge. The only problem with the RCMA is the container itself doesn’t have anywhere to put the powder so I find myself trying to squeeze my brush in it or dumping a ton out on a surface. So if that’s an issue for you I’d stick with the damp sponge.

Over all I love the performance of both powders. This isn’t a comparison or a dupe post it’s simply me talking about two products I love. Maybe I’d think of it as a “winter and summer setting powder”.

Are there any other setting powders you love/recommend? I am always on the hunt for some good setting products! 🤗

Until next time. . .

  9. If you could have any job what would it be? I’d wanna be rich and famous for nothing! haha JUST KIDDING! I’d wanna be one of those people who care for pandas. Or something to do with makeup. Work for a brand. Own my own brand.

Colourpop Pressed Shadows & More

dsc_0276

Normally I like to post at least one Makeup Of The Day (MOTD) a week but we are once again in the middle of a move (story of my life, huh?). Instead I thought I’d do a post I’ve been dying to do! A while back I got a visa gift card and did not know what to get.

dsc_0302

Through Ipsy I’ve gotten pans of shadows and blush so I purchased a z palette to hold it all together. Ever since I’ve been wanting to purchase some single shadows but there’s so many options out there that I was over whelmed. As a stay at home with one income I’ve learned that not everything that’s raved about on Youtube is worth your buck. So I narrowed it down to three company’s I’d want to buy single shadows from: Mac, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and Makeup Geek.

dsc_0277
The three bottom shadows are Makeup Geeks Peach smoothie, Cocoa bear, and Faux fur.

dsc_0316Mac didn’t have any and Anatasia Beverly Hills were $12 per pan! (I had a mini heart attack when I saw the price) The best reasonably priced were Makeup Geek. We’ve seen them everywhere and have heard great things. Unlike the ABH shadows these retailed for HALF THE PRICE! I know amazing right?! Of course I bought the most popular shadows: Peach smoothie, Cocoa bear, and Faux fur. I absolutely love them. They’re very pigmented and blend soooo smoothly. I recommend them.

dsc_0273

The stars of this post are the Colourpop Pressed shadows. Anything you’ve heard about these is true! Colourpop specializes in affordable dazzling colors and when it came to these shadows they delivered.  I purchased Running late (the first pan in the palette) which reminds me a lot of peach smoothie, Wake up call (a soft brown that is perfect as a transition shade), Mili I actually received free because Colourpop reached 1,000,000 likes on Facebook (the only shimmer I got), Wait for it (the first pan in the second row) is a pretty soft pink/coral that I love as a transition shade, Stay Golden is the hot pink of the bunch, and last but not least is Piece of Cake which is described as a beautiful Indigo on the Colourpop website.

dsc_0320

Some pros to these shadows are the color pay off. They are very pigmented and a little goes a long way. They are also very very easy to blend and buttery. Like the other Colourpop shadows they come in bright pretty shades. Cons? When you dip your brush you’ll notice it has a lot of fall out. One more . . . the blue is a bit sheer but with some layering it does good. Now this will be music to your ears these only retail for $5!!

dsc_0323

Compared to the Makeup geek the only difference is that they have very little fall out. But I have one more shadow to talk about that I actually got in an Ipsy bag. It is the Ofra cosmetics “You Glow Girl”. It is a colab Ofra Cosmetics did with “dupethat” and it is a pretty pink shimmer that can be used for the face or eyes. I personally use it as just an eyeshadow. My opinion here will be of this product used as an eyeshadow not a highlighter (although I have used it as a highlight). This also has a lot of fall out. But the color pay off is awesome and it is such a beauty to use in a halo eye.

Ofra Cosmetics: You Glow Girl

Over all I am so happy with how my Z palette is looking and I can’t wait to add more shadows to it. Especially from ABH and Mac. *wishful thinking* If you’re thinking of buying single shadows I recommend all three of these companies. (Don’t quote me on the Ofra ones since I only own one.) The price points are awesome, they have a lot of colors to choose from, and the pigmentation is everything!

Do you own any of the Colourpop pressed shadows or Makeup geek?? Any shades I need? Any other companies I should try?!?

Affordable at home Manicure

I’ve never done a post like this but this set up is too good not share! Since having the baby I haven’t had the time or heart to go to a nail salon and get a decent manicure. These products are what works best for me. I went through a lot of polishes to get this perfect set up *insert evil laugh!*

dsc_0182

I start off by softening and removing my cuticle with the Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover. It’s so easy to use: apply the product for 15 seconds (no longer than a minute), push it up with the cuticle stick, and voila clean cuticle free nails. Then I cut my nails to the desired size. For me it’s short because of the little tike. DSC_0193.png

This next step I need because I have ridges on my nails so I smooth them out a bit just to get rid of them.

dsc_0198

After that I wash my hands to get rid of any dust and moisturize with this Soap And Glory The Righteous Butter. It smells so good and its so thick and buttery it provides a lot of moisture.

dsc_0204

dsc_0200dsc_0187

For myself gel nail polishes are my favorite! Both these polishes are affordable. The Sinful Colors retails for $1.98 at Walmart STEAL! The L.A. Colors I also got at Walmart for the same price. Now both these polishes have a top coat that promotes a longer longevity of the polish but. . .dsc_0192

These two are my go to top coats. For a salon finish I recommend the Essie Gel Setter. It’s a bit pricey but so worth it. It gives that thick wet look without having to cure it like regular salon gel polishes. The O.P.I top coat is very basic and doesn’t last as long as the essie but definitely lasts longer than any other top coat.

Now I know nothing beats the feeling of getting pampered and having a hand massage, lol, but this is a quick at home diy manicure. I love it and can vouch my nails look pretty for 2-3 weeks. I bet if I wasn’t a germaphobe with the baby and didn’t have to wash bottles every night it would last even longer.

What are some of your favorite polishes or some diy home pampering??

Thanks for reading I hope you enjoyed this post! -Prissy 💖

Life Update!

Hello everyone! After almost a year of being absent I am back with some life updates. If anyone noticed I was gone for a while I promise I have a good excuse! Back in April we found out I was pregnant. I had noticed a change in my mood and how tired I was. I had 0 motivation to blog or even do my makeup. So, I decided to put blogging aside while we got ready for the baby. Another thing is I wasn’t buying makeup (besides my basics/favorites) since we were focusing on just the baby and our 4yr old. I didn’t stop wearing makeup I just stopped talking about it. Here are a few of my favorite pics of my pregnancy! I didn’t do a maternity shoot which I kind of regret now but my bathroom mirror saw many selfies!

img_4370

img_4409-2

img_5156

Another big thing that happened that took up a lot of our/my time was back in November our dog Marie had puppies. For some reason she rejected them and I stepped in with bottle feeding and all that good stuff.  2 of the pups didn’t make it and with the hormones and time invested in them I didnt have energy at all to do makeup. I spent a lot of that time just focused on the pups and my daughter.

img_5157

But after finding most of them loving homes and giving birth to a beautiful baby boy I AM BACK!! My son was born in January and since then I’ve made some makeup damage so I can’t wait to show you guys and talk once again about the one thing we all have in common. . . our love for makeup! I’ve also played with the idea of not focusing so much on just makeup and possibly changing my style to more of a lifestyle blog with makeup posts also, thoughts??

img_5268-2

I am so glad to be back, glad to have a healthy baby boy and daughter, and glad to be doing what I love once again!
