Current Favorites!!

I’M BACK!! Today I would like to tell you guys about my current favorites! My skin has taken a turn for the worst and has broken out so bad! I blame it on a bad skin care routine and stress. With that being said I haven’t been wearing much makeup but when I do here is what I’ve been loving!

We will start with eyeshadow we all know that’s our obsession.

IMG_0468

My husband was deployed in Dubai and this is one of the gifts he brought back! The Huda Beauty Rose Gold palette. Let me first say Huda is goals. A beauty blogger who now has her own makeup line?? YES, please! The shades in this palette are gorgeous. It has easily become my day-to-day go to (when I do wear makeup).

IMG_0466-2

DSC00862 copy

The pigmentation is everything! I regret not taking pictures as soon as I got it since I’ve had it for a month now and have dipped into it plenty and as you can see it still looks new. It’s so pigmented that I’ve had to tap off as much as I can because I have a very heavy hand. The consistency is very soft and buttery. But the textured shadows have an almost mousse consistency. I apply those (and have noticed it works better) with just my fingertip. What I love the most is the endless eye looks that can be created with this palette. Soft glam, smokey, even a beautiful halo! It has great transition shades, crease shades, and a great selection of lid shades.

This palette retails for $65 which is easily one of my most expensive eyeshadow palettes and its sold at Sephora .

Next is these two Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour blushes. DSC00863 copy

I received the first one named Paarty for my birthday from Sephora. The second one I actually got from my Ipsy November Glam Bag. The color is Feisty which is a “dusty rose”. On the Ipsy website it has the 3 shades they sent out but they don’t on the   Tarte website. So I’m not sure if it was an Ipsy exclusive.

Super soft, silky powder chock full of true-color mineral pigments lets you layer on your glow with no harsh lines or chalky build-up. Its micronized Amazonian clay helps control oil & infuse moisture for balanced skin & seamless blending. The magnetized pan lets you pop your favorite shade from its compact to create a custom palette.

IMG_0470

Something else I received in last months Glam Bag is this Crown Brush. It is the C141 Small Chisel Brush that “is great for highlight and blush.” AGREED!

IMG_0474-2

IMG_0476

I actually use it for blush and I love it. Before this brush I used Luxie’s angled brush to apply blush and I thought I’d never give it up. I was wrong. This brush is so soft. I haven’t gotten to the best part. . . this brush retails for ONLY $5.69! 😱

The grand finale is another Dubai gift. Chanel Rouge Coco in the shade Adrienne. It is such a lightweight classic nude.

IMG_0479

IMG_0483

I pair it with MAC’s StripdownIMG_0488-2

IMG_0486

The lipstick alone is very creamy so I do recommend lining the lips before applying it. And it just so happens to pair so great with Stripdown. Stripdown in my opinion is such a classic everyday color. I usually use it as a lip color on its own if I want a wash of color on the lips. However, this lipliner can be VERY drying. On the Mac website this is described as a brown beige and I’ve seen it be very brown on some skin tones and more mauve on my own.

Overall these products have worked so well and I enjoy them so much!

My Boxycharm!!!

There is something I absolutely love about these subscription boxes/bags. Perhaps its the fact that every month feels like I’m gifting myself something new. Or the opportunity to experience new products for a low price.

I’ve been part of the Ipsy family for a while now I believe two years. I liked that for $10 I was able to meet new products that have been “specifically” picked for me. Therefore I went ahead and jumped on the Boxycharm wagon.

My best friend gave Birchbox a shot and after one month she wasn’t pleased. Naturally I was nervous. Mainly because unlike Ipsy, Boxycharm is $21. The difference? Boxycharm sent all full-sized items.

DSC_0511

Lets start off this post with my favorite: Brushes! You already know I am a Luxie addict. I have received its brushes in the past and have personally purchased many on my own. This #640 Pro Precision Tapered brush retails for $24. That in itself paid for the box! WINNING!

As you know Luxie beauty is cruelty free and vegan. Therefore its been one of my go to for brushes aside from Real Techniques. This specific brush I’ve used to apply highlight and blush (when I want a light wash of color).

DSC_0521

Speaking of highlight I got this beauty as well! I first heard of Artist Couture when Jackieaina on YouTube did a collab with them.

DSC_0522

DSC_0523

This Diamond Glow Powder in Illuminati is all that. . . and more! It’s a loose highlight. This is my first time experiencing a loose highlight since most I get are pressed. I like to pair it with my Colourpop highlight. Since that one has a mousse consistency I feel like it looks intensified paired with this highlight.

This highlight is cruelty free and vegan. YAY!! This retails for $26.99 on the website.

This shimmering powder packs a high glow with a light silver and champagne iridescence, suitable only for true glow getters! This all–natural loose powder is finely milled.  With versatility in use, it is suitable for light to dark skin tones. This product can be used on your face to highlight, or on your eyes, lips and body.  Artist Couture website

Ok, Soo for me receiving a whole eyeshadow palette was exciting. We all know how pricey palettes can get and compared to Ipsy’s one shadow at a time getting this was thrilling! LOL!

DSC_0531

DSC_0541

This palette 1 by RealHer left me at a loss for words. I don’t always gravitate to shimmers. Just isn’t me. BUT WOW! The pigmentation is amazing. As you can see it has very little almost NO fallout. I wish I would’ve done swatches to do it justice. The colors are gorgeous and right up my neutral alley. Retails for $28

This palette has a rich-pigmented hues and sexy combinations designed for all eye colors and skin tones. Delight in long-wearing, crease-resistant, fade-resistant, buildable colors in textures raging from velvety smooth mattes to metallic sheens. -Boxycharm website

DSC_0544

How late am I with getting a Ofra Cosmetics liquid lip??? In my defense liquid lipsticks scare me because of an allergic reaction I once got to one. But that’s the beauty of these subscription boxes, huh?

DSC_0547

DSC_0553

I received this beautiful shade of pink. In the picture it looks like a vibrant pink but because of my tan skin tone it looks a bit deeper on me. It is everything it says and more. It isn’t dry, doesn’t flake, and it doesn’t leave a nasty white line on the inner part of the lips like some liquid lipsticks do. Even more reasons to be scared of them, haha!!

Like with most lip products whether they’re matte, liquid, or even a gloss I like to moisturize before applying a product on. Most times I use just some chapstick while I do my face and eyeshadow first. This product retails for $19.90.

DSC_0555-2

Last but not least I got 3 facial sheet masks by Biobelle. I haven’t used many sheet masks so . . . you know me, I GOT EXCITED! lol!

Biobelle’s sheet masks give your skin an instant boost, while deeply hydrating and evening your skin tone, revealing gorgeous, glowing skin! Biobelle’s Award-winning TENCEL ® fiber adheres perfectly and delivers antioxidants to your skin faster and deeper.- Boxycharm website

DSC_0558

DSC_0556

DSC_0561

I received 3: First up is “I woke up like this”- enhances skin natural glow. With wild rose and vitamin C. Next is “#beauty secret”- Moisturizes to help the skin appear smooth and firm. With pomegranate and hyaluronic acid. Lastly, “#primer”- Prep the skin for a flawless makeup application. With tea tree oil, rosehip extract, and vitamin C. Enhances radiance, minimizes pores, and evens skin tone. These retail for $14.97

As you can see almost every one of these products paid for the box alone. I am so satisfied with it and I will stick to it. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of options like with Ipsy where everyone gets something different. Kind of looks like everyone gets the same products just in different colors. But for being full size that’s fine with me!

I want to end this post with an apology. I know I haven’t been consistent with my posts but as some of you may remember my husband is deployed and it gets a bit hectic by myself. While that’s no excuse I would still like to apologize!

Thanks for sticking around this long! Does anyone else get Boxycharm and absolutely loves it? Is it enough to cancel Ipsy?? Thoughts??

Ipsy

Ipsy’s June Glam Bag!

Sorry I’m so late this month it has been a bit hectic with the kids and the Hubs being deployed. But there’s no time to waste let’s get right into it. This month Ipsy’s theme was “Volume Up”.

“This loud and proud pouch is a not so subtle reminder to ‘always’ speak your mind!”

DSC_0440-2

I’m not going to lie I was initially not excited about this bag. Nothing seemed appealing if maybe only the nail polish. But once I looked into it I was stoked.

What got my attention the most was this Privai Matte Moisturizer. During the summer I love to have a very matte base because I do tend to get a lot more oily.

Enhanced with Vitamins A, C and E, this oil-free moisturizer is perfect for normal to oily skin types. Natural anti-bacterial properties from Sage Extract help repair blemished skin while Grapefruit Peel Extract clarifies the complexion. Privai Website
This product retails for $30 for a big bottle. Yikes! Although I will say  so far I like it. Its taken a lot of trial and error with primers and foundations because I’ve experienced some break up with my foundation and I’m not sure whats causing it.

Up next is this nail polish by Margaret Dabbs London. The color is phenomenal. It screams summer days at the beach! This treatment enriched nail polish in Green Dailily is super thick and pigmented that one swipe guarantees a streak free application. I already tried it and love it. It reminds me of the “gel” nail polishes that are out there now a days.

To me this formula screams salon quality at home!

I can’t find the price in dollars on the website only in pounds. which 14 pounds is about 17 US dollars.

DSC_0456.png

DSC_0473

This is another little gem I was surprised to like!

DSC_0466

Doucce Maxlash Volumizer Mascara. Let me begin by saying the brush and bristles themselves remind me a lot of the TooFaced Better than sex mascara. Also, the formula is very similar in the sense that it makes my lashes very dark and full looking. Except it isn’t as thick and that makes removing it super easy!

The big bottle retails for $22. The website claims, “The creamy and buildable formula is clump-resistant, flake proof, smudge proof, and resistant to sweat and humidity.” And its all true! So far I LOVE it!

DSC_0470-2

I’ve received Hey Honey products in the past and thoroughly enjoy them. This is the second mud mask I receive and I’m very excited to try it!

DSC_0474

DSC_0459

Ok, question! Am I the only that can’t figure out how to use these small samples of blush?  I love The Balm and therefore use these as eyeshadow.

Drive your beauty routine into full swing with Balm Springs® – a new long-wearing blush from theBalm® Cosmetics. This earthy rose shade compliments all skin tones. The talc-free, fade-resistant formula is perfect for hot days and even hotter nights… The Balm Website

In the end this months bag provided a lot of hidden gems.

Don’t forget Ipsy is a $10 monthly subscription where you receive 5 beauty items that ship for free. You often get one full size product! And remember REVIEW, REVIEW, REVIEW!! Not only does it further personalize your bag but it earns you points which you can redeem for more products!!

How was your bag?? Still happy with Ipsy??

Makeup

Does it work???

I am always on the hunt for a new foundation. Although I have some I absolutely love I like to give me skin breaks from certain products. Especially if its something I’ve repurchased many times. For the past couple of months I have been using Wet n Wild’s photofocus foundation which I absolutely love! In my opinion I’d say it’s very similar to Estee Lauder’s DoubleWear. But I started breaking out! I had these small tiny bumps that made my skin look so bad.

It was wasn’t like cystic acne where its big and painful. Just these tiny bumps under the skin. I thought back to what new products I’d been using and it was the combination of Milk Cosmetics face primer and the Wet n Wild foundation. So I left those behind and reverted back to my trustees, holy grail, never fail routine. Moisturize, prime with Benefit’s Porefessional, and top it off with the DoubleWear foundation. DSC_0408

But one day I got brave and walked into Sephora and explained my situation to a consultant. Sometimes I hate doing that because no one knows my skin like. . . me, right? But I went ahead and did the color match (which is something I struggle a lot with) and they did this thing where it can tell my type of skin I have. I had a ton of color hits like seriously I could find a color that matched me in every single brand!! And she said I had  normal skin.

I explained to her how I wanted to try a foundation stick and she showed me my options but I just felt that because I do have acne scars I rather stick with something that provides better coverage. That’s how I ended up with Becca’s Ultima Coverage Complexion Creme. It retails for $44 so I wanted it to work soooo bad! She sampled it on my skin and instantly I liked the coverage, BUT I’m used to very thin foundations and this is a creme.

DSC_0422.png

I bravely bought it and then looked up reviews. . . bad idea! I was so scared of it because it had mixed reviews and then I texted my BFF and she agreed the reviews were scary! LOL. But in the end I can sincerely say I’m glad I got it. Its taken me a bit to adjust to the formula and to figure out if its best applied with a sponge or brush.

DSC_0423

From my personal experience I like it better with a brush. I use the Morphe MB8 and it works AMAZING! Then when I apply my concealer I spray a little fix plus and go over all the foundation and concealer. To avoid any streaks that may be left behind. The foundation itself has no scent unlike the Wet n Wild one and one pump goes along way!

DSC_0425

For a while now I’ve sort of obsessed with the idea of getting lip injections. Simply to alter the shape of my lips and to give them more of pout. I am happy with their size but I just wish my bottom one was slightly bigger. So naturally like any other makeup obsessed person out there you find a way to make it work! And that’s how I came across this product.

DSC_0426.png

DSC_0435.png

I swear I didn’t walk into Target looking for this specific product. I had recently read somewhere that Soap and Glory had an amazing eyeliner and I wanted it! But alas they didn’t have it and I have always been curious to try their makeup products since I already loved their hand cream! While looking I noticed their lip plumper and I used to have one by TooFaced that I loveedddd but never repurchased it!

So far I like it. But does it work? I think so. It made my lips tingle and feel a little bigger but I didn’t notice much of difference. But that was my first time using it. I’m not giving up on it. I will say I hate the scent or rather, dislike! It’s like a funky chocolate smell. And not good chocolate, lol! It goes away after a while though so I can look past it. The formula is thick and sticky but I don’t mind it. I needed a break from the mattes.

I purchased mine in Clearvoyant which is a clear gloss with a tiny shimmer but there are other colors to choose from. Like a nude, pink, and even a coral. Perhaps Ill apply it remove it and line my lips to see if I notice a difference. It still retails for a lot cheaper than most lip plumping glosses, win! And maybe it’ll help me change my mind from injections!

Any Soap and Glory products you swear by? Or perhaps a foundation you love??

Blondes have more Fun or Brunettes?

I’ve waited a while to make this post! I’ve wanted to change my hair color for soooo long now. Last year I had “Enchanted forest” (from Manic Panic) green and once that cleared up I was ready for MORE! It’s been a goal of mine to go blonde. Perhaps to annoy the Hubs since he’s said he doesn’t like blonde or maybe just to figure out who has more fun; Blondes or Brunettes???

IMG_6462-2

My natural color is this ashy brown. So for me the transition was easy.

We started off with one bleach session and toned it a cool grey with Wella toner. It actually looked ashy like my natural color. IMG_0189-2

Then we did a second round of bleach. That 2nd time we didn’t tone it and left it the bright golden-yellow color. Which btw I totally rocked!

IMG_0489-2

Lastly, we did one last round of bleach and toned it again with Wella’s blue and violet toner to eliminate the orange and yellow from my hair. I love the results and maybe once we retouch my roots I’ll bleach and tone one more time. My hair has done so good with the whole process! I’m hoping using a “purple” shampoo will help eiliminate the need to tone it often. But I do see myself with some pastel colors in the future so we’ll see!

Youtube Made me Buy it

YouTube Made Me Buy It!

DSC_0300

Have you ever gotten lost in the world of Youtube and at the end felt like “damn I need to buy THIS palette!”?? Today I will tell you about 3 palettes I bought because of youtube. Some I love some I “hate” or . . . well dislike!

We will start with TooFaced’s Chocolate Bar. I bought this palette because EVERYONE raved about it. It was the palette to own.

DSC_0341

I justified getting it because it had neutrals and color. Mattes and shimmers. Overall it’s an ok palette. A few things I like about it is the color selection. It has good variation for a neutral look or even a glammed look. Also, some of the colors are very pigmented. Some stuff I didn’t like. . .

DSC_0346

As you can see one of the shadows popped out. It isn’t magnetic so every time I travel or open it the pan falls out. The packaging isn’t my favorite either. While it’s very beautiful and cute the magnets giving out and if I’m not careful the pan falls on the floor. Hence the cracked product.

DSC_0354

DSC_0356

DSC_0373

Up next is the Chocolate bars cousin. The Chocolate BonBon palette.

DSC_0372

The problem I have with this palette is that I hardly reach for it. It’s almost like it’s just there to be pretty. Like its cousin some of the colors are hit or miss with the pigmentation. It features beautiful colors that I thought would take me out of my “neutral” comfort zone but I have yet to do a colorful look with it.

DSC_0308

DSC_0318

DSC_0336

I do however love the transition shades in this palette and Satin Sheets as a highlight. Sadly the packaging is adorable but magnetic and flimsy feeling like the Chocolate bar.

Another palette Youtube made me buy is Urban Decays Naked2. This is a staple for every beginner makeup enthusiast. DSC_0367

This is another palette I haven’t used in such a long time. Perhaps it’s because its been put away or maybe because I’m not drawn to the shades. It’s mostly shimmer and back when I first started my makeup journey I didn’t know I wouldn’t “love” shimmers.

Maybe its the fall out I’m not attracted to or the fact to ME shimmers get a bit muddy. Or they lose the actual shimmer to them. I love the shock pigments/shadows from Colourpop and when I want a glittery look I turn to them.

DSC_0357

DSC_0363

All of these palettes cost a pretty penny. If you’re a collector and don’t care about some the cons then these aren’t so bad. But if you are looking for some cheap alternatives there are some great choices out there. They’re beautiful palettes all 3 of them. With some pro’s and some con’s. I don’t regret ANY of them.

Is there anything Youtube made you buy? Anything you regret?

EcoTools Perfecting Blender Duo

DSC_0286

I am going to begin this post by admitting that I am devoted to the Beauty Blender. I love everything about it. How big it gets once its wet, how well it blends foundation, and the fine point to blend concealer in small spaces.

What I don’t like is the price point. I find myself having to replace it every six months and at $20 that’s a bit pricey for a stay at home mom.

I’ve heard nothing but great things about the Ecotools blender sponge. I’ve seen these all over the internet and Target. Both sponges as a duo retail at $9.99 and one alone is $5.99. Already I love it, LOL!

I haven’t tried it yet but I was so happy to finally get my hands on these. The sis has them and she said they’re awesome. I personally hated how stiff the Real Techniques sponge was and already I can tell both of these are a lot softer, airy, and spongy.

DSC_0292

DSC_0293

Ecotools has a lot of great brushes. It is a cruelty free brand and upon looking into it their products are made from recycled materials. Their packaging is made of tree-free paper materials.

I can’t wait to use these sponges and thank the makeup gods because I actually recently lost my Beauty Blender.

Have you tried these Ecotools blender sponges? Do they live up to the hype?? Should I do an updated post?

Makeup Of The Week

This past week I wore more makeup than usual. I’m not sure what it was but for me makeup is therapeutic. Or perhaps with my “bold” hair I needed makeup to feel evened out. LOL! No worries my hair won’t stay this gold. We’re going to give it a break before bleaching it one more time and then toning it, can’t wait!

IMG_0400-2

Am I the only one that sometimes likes to go soft on the eyes and just focuses on the skin? I absolutely love how healthy my skin looked on this day.

IMG_0426-2-2

This day I went a little bolder trying to slowly work up the courage to try a “sunset eye”. Have you seen that trend? It’s supposed to be the shizz this summer. In the center of the lid I have Colourpop’s Super Shock Pressed Pigment in “Animal”. How gorgeous is it?? In person it has a goldish sheen to it.

IMG_0489-2

I feel like this hair called for a bold pinup’ish look. I had so much fun with this look. To achieve this eye look I used Kat Von D’s “Shade & Light Contour Eye Palette”. It has to prettiest warm and cool browns. To highlight I used the sample of Urban Decay’s highlighter I received in my Ipsy May Glam Bag. On the lips I have a combination of NYX’s Lingerie “#05 Beauty Mark” and on the center is Milani’s “#10 Adorable”.

IMG_0492

Although I wasn’t wearing makeup the whole week the days I did cake it on I was so happy with my looks. I tend to go soft and lately I’ve been feeling bold and going for more bold looks. Definitely stepping out of my comfort zone!

MODA Prismatic Face Perfecting Kit

DSC_0247

Are you brush obsessed like I am?? If your answer is yes than this post is for you! If you’re not than stick around for some pretty colors! LOL. I originally saw these Royal and Langnickel “MODA” oval brushes on Pinterest. I have always been interested in brushes like this because its meant to be used on yourself as opposed to “regular” makeup brushes that are meant to be used on other people. I, however, did not like the price point of some of the brushes out there!

These babies retail for $24.99 on the Royal and Langnickel website. But if you’re lucky you can find them at Walmart for $16 and some change. The colors are beautiful and the brush bristles are extremely soft. If you’re into the Unicorn or Mermaid trend these are for YOU!

DSC_0257

DSC_0259-2

I’ve talked about some of the stuff I like how about I mention one or two things I don’t like: the brush handle feels very flimsy. Perhaps that’s where the pricier brushes are better. I feel like if my toddler got a hold of them they’re toast. (If you have kids at home you understand the makeup brush struggle) Another thing is (and this is personal experience) I can’t adjust to the change. I’ve used them for about a week now and I still have some trouble. Maybe with time I can get used to it.

Some other stuff I read on the reviews is that cleaning is a bit hard because of how dense they are. For me that’s no big deal because I usually make an event out cleaning my brushes, LOL!

Onto important stuff. . . how do they apply the product? As beautiful as they look. I did have trouble getting into the crevices by the nose. Might be because I used the big brush for foundation (#801). I then used the second to biggest (#802) for concealer and I was blown away! It eliminated the need to blend one more time to get rid of any creases before powder like my beauty blender does. As for the other two brushes I can’t say since I want to use them to contour but with cream products.

So, as of now I can’t say “I love them”. But that’s just because I’m not used to them because as far as how they work its amazing! And they’re pretty on the eyes 😝

Do you own brushes like these? Do you love them? Any tips or suggestions you might have?

Until next time. . .
