NYXRIMMELMILANI

I usually post on Wednesday but I really wanted to find this foundation before posting. We went to about 3 local stores with no luck. In the meanwhile I purchased some other little stuff while being out.

Like I always mention I set my eyebrows with e.l.f.’s clear eyebrow gel. The reason I love this product is because of how inexpensive it is. At only $2 for an eyebrow gel and mascara  I feel like you can’t go wrong. I can either fill in my eyebrows and set them with the gel or just use the gel alone. Once I’m out of the eyebrow side I actually use the mascara on the eyebrows as well. Perfect, good, and cheap!

This BB cream by Rimmel was such a disappointment and I wish I wouldn’t of been so impulsive with it. For a while I’ve wanted a product that is light weight but still provides enough coverage that it can be worn alone without concealer. What attracted me to this specific BB cream was the name, BB Cream Matte. As someone who tends to be very oily its only natural I seek products that will keep me matte the longest.

This specially formulated BB Cream is packed with matte perfecting benefits, resulting in gorgeous and shine free skin! Minimizing the appearance of pores and evening skin tone while controlling shine, the lightweight formula makes it perfect for combination to oily skin, with ideal benefits: soothes, conceals dark circles and even helps prevent blemishes. -From the Rimmel Website

It does provide good coverage. Initially I was very impressed. However, it only comes in TWO shades (Seriously?!?) so I set it with my Mac powder foundation for some color. I had an early doctors appointment so I didn’t want to pack on a full face which is why I didn’t bronze. BUT by like 10AM I was as oily as can be. Like bad pizza greasy . . . ugh!

NYXBUTTERGLOSS

Now this impulse buy I’m happy with. NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Chocolate Crepe is such a pretty shade. I am all about glosses for the warmer weather. My lips tend to be drier during summer (weird right?) so I always use glosses.

800897837020_intensebuttergloss_chocolatecrepe_alt1

This is a swatch from the NYX website. I feel like I need to mention these smell amazing like cake or a cupcake. . . or like frosting! The applicator is awesome, yay. I can’t handle how pretty of a color it is. BTW, as I’m on the NYX website I am SOO tempted to purchase more.WETnWILD

Another lip purchase I made was this Wet n Wild MegaLast lip color. This is in the shade Just Peachy. I’ve owned other shades in this formula when they first released and I wasn’t too impressed. Like I’ve mentioned matte lipsticks tend to dry my lips but I’m hoping it’ll be different this time. I did purchase an awesome lip balm to help with dry lips. Walgreen’s is having a bogo sale and my kiddo wanted a nail polish so momma got a lippie, #WINNING!

MILANI2in1FOUNDATION

Now this foundation is what I’ve been waiting for!! This is Milani’s Conceal+Perfect 2 in 1 Foundation+Concealer. The idea that it can provide that much coverage is mind blowing. It also comes with a pump, bonus! I hope this foundation lives up to the hype because besides my Estee Lauder Double wear I have not found a foundation I love that is drugstore.

Combat under eye circles, redness and other skin imperfections with this full coverage, water-resistant foundation plus concealer in one. A no mess, no drip pump dispenses just the right amount of fluid needed to achieve a flawless look and works around the clock to keep skin looking naturally perfect! -From the  Milani website

There is a variation of shades on the Milani website but in stores I saw way less. Maybe half of them. Also, it was sold out in most stores I looked for it. So I suggest looking which stores actually have it and maybe even calling to make sure. I wish I had. Could have saved us some trips.

Now I wouldn’t call this a haul because it’s such little items but besides the BB cream I am so excited for my purchase and I definitely recommend them to everyone! I’m all about inexpensive yet good makeup!

Any drugstore products you’ve been loving lately you recommend???

Ipsy is my Monday fave!

Ipsy is my Monday fave!

I finally got my ipsy bag! It mailed to our old address so the hubby had to get it for me. This month’s theme was “dreamers” and the bag itself is so cute! I think definitely one of my favorite!

A lot of people ask me if I think it’s worth signing up for ipsy and personally I enjoy it. For many many reasons. 1. At least one product pays for the monthly fee of $10. 2. I get to try new products without spending a whole lot of $$$. 3. I secretly enjoy having something to look forward to in the mail! (LOL!!)

Like my best friend said “Ipsy knows you!” So of course I was super excited for a new brush. I’ve never purchased any Crown brushes but I have purchased a cream contour kit from them and enjoyed it very much! This is the C427 Duo Fiber Blush Brush. This brush retails for about $10 on their website. I like these type of brushes to stipple in my concealer and to apply blush and highlights.

As you can see I was having a hard time capturing the true color of this eyeliner. This pencil is by Skinn Cosmetics and this is the Bright eyes Eye enhancing Eyeliner. If like me you’re a bit more on the tanned side than you’ll notice using a white liner in the water line may look kind of odd. For a long time I’ve been searching for a different shade that isn’t white and had settled for a gold so I am soooo happy I received this specific color liner. This eyeliner retails for $18 so I mean COME ON! Two products already payed for the $10 fee.

Next up is this cream eyeshadow by Starlooks in Rose Gold. I haven’t tried this shadow but I am so stoked. Golds make my eyes look a bit lighter so I love these type of shades. I did swatch it and it goes on so smooth and bright.
I don’t think I have ever tried a Tarte lip product so I was excited for this. As soon as I saw the shade I knew it was something I can carry around in my purse for pops of color whenever I need it. This is their LipSurgence™ lip crème in Wonder. As we all know Tarte is cruelty free, yay!
STYLIST TIP:

Perfect your pout! Swipe once for a sheer wash of color, or build for more intensity.
P.S. It also doubles as a cheek color! Apply to the apples of cheeks and blend for a radiant flush of color. (From the Ipsy Website).

I’ve never been big on hair products I don’t know why, just never have. So I wasn’t super excited for this product Moroccanoil Moroccanoil treatment. However I have found some hair products I genuinely like through Ipsy so I’ll give it a shot.

Shine on! It’s the original – and best – argan oil treatment that’s won countless awards for its insane hair-perfecting power. Just one use transforms lackluster locks into the super shiny strands of your dreams. It’s also a magical multitasker – the all-in-one product works overtime to condition, style and finish your hair. (From the Ipsy website).

Overall, like always I am pleased with my monthly Ipsy bag. In the past there’s been some fails but I’m glad I waited it out. If you’re interested in an Ipsy subscription in this post I describe what it’s like and how it works.

Were you pleased with this month’s bag?!

On Wednesday We Wear PINK!

On Wednesday We Wear PINK!

Anyone else obsessed with Mean Girls?? I know I was/am lol. I didnt know what I was going to do with makeup today but I knew I wanted to wear makeup. I was going on a week of being makeup free and I was getting bored. So since it’s Wednesday and on Wednesdays we wear pink I gave this look a shot. I kind of just winged it and only knew I wanted to use pink, of course! This is to make up for missing last weeks #MOTD

On the eyes I wore:

  • Almond truffle on the crease & bottom lash
  • Divinity for the brow bone
  • Totally fetch on the outer corner & bottom lash
  • Sprinkles all over the lid
  • Satin sheets for an inner corner and nose highlight

All from the Too Faced Bon Bons palette. I’m not usually bold with color but I am so happy I gave it a shot. I don’t know when I’d wear something like this maybe date night on the beach? I tend to stick to neutrals so these bold pops of color are different/new for me.

Whats your favorite color for spring or for a pop of color???

Monday Faves, Kinda. . .

Monday Faves, Kinda. . .

I mentioned in my previous post we were going to be moving soon and finally it happened! Although we did go from a house to an apartment I cannot be happier. We lost a back yard and a garage but we gained a 3rd bedroom which I am super happy for. This will be our “guest bedroom” and my makeup/shoe room! Sadly I couldn’t get up a #MOTD over the weekend since we were so busy and I skipped on the makeup but I do apologize!!

DSC_0552

Let me begin by telling you guys I AM ALL ABOUT REPURPOSING RECYCLING THINGS! I mean it. I am constantly looking out for things I can re use or give it a new purpose. We all see on pinterest these ideas of using mason jars as brush holders and while I am all for it . . . I won’t spend money on a jar just for brushes. Instead I use Classico Spaghetti sauce jars. I started doing this because I noticed the jars had measurements on it so I went on a huge jar saving binge, LOL! I use these jars for makeup brushes, measuring cups, cotton pad holder, and to drink out of them. I have even stained some and use them to decorate.

DSC_0553

I also took this hot pink basket from my daughter to hold my palettes. I gave birth while my husband was deployed so I didn’t have a nursery and I had to get creative when it came to putting baby clothes away and these $1 basket from Target were a life saver, then and now! I saved the gelato container because it reminded me of the Bath and Body works big candle everyone cleans out and uses as brush holders but since I don’t use candles, lol, this will do. I saw on Facebook a cool idea about using contact paper to wrap it in so maybe I’ll give that a try since the container does have letters. The acrylic lipstick holder I purchased at Marshall’s for something insanely cheap like $5.99.

So for now this is my little set up. I still have to set up some more products that are packed away and some more brushes. I also need to set up our Jordan’s (you didn’t think I meant heels did you?!?) lol. I also need a chair but I am so happy to be out of my husbands way. My makeup stash was taking up our bathroom counter. So this Monday this is my favorite. . .  my OWN little space. I can’t wait to get some wall decor up and my shelves for the extra stuff!

What’s some stuff you like repurposing for your makeup room/stash?!? Or a good place to buy makeup storage (besides ikea sadly it isn’t an option for us)?!?

Dear 18 Year old me. . .

Dear 18 Year old me. . .

Have you ever been asked, “If you could go back in time and  tell your 18 year old self anything what would you say??” That question always gets me thinking. Since this is a blog about makeup and what not I will be telling my 18 year old self the importance of moisturizing. I don’t think I ever cared. I did use a moisturizer but it belonged to my mom. I figured that she looked young for her age so why not use it too and it was free (haha) who doesn’t love free??

Another thing I wish I knew the importance of is spf. At such a young age I thought using sunblock only when I went to the beach was enough. Little did I know or understand uv rays and how they’re not only out just during summer. I do know during summer I used a tinted moisturizer with spf 15 but any other time of the year I didn’t bother with my daily moisturizer having spf. As an adult I am scared this will affect me down the road.

I’d also tell myself my eyelashes falling out with a certain mascara means I’m allergic to it so STOP using it. I used to have long thick lashes and suddenly that changed. I noticed it happened when I used a certain mascara. Luckily I never went through a bright blue shadow phase or black eyshadow (lol) so I got lucky with that. I wasn’t allowed to wear makeup so my teenage makeup routine was black eyeliner and mascara.

Philosophyfacewash

Then I grew a little left the nest and started my party stage. Which meant I was using a lot more makeup. . .and I wish I could tell myself to wash it off before bed. As an adult I get so mad at myself for not getting into that routine at a younger age. My excuse was always, “I’m tired!” or “I don’t have makeup remover wipes”. As an adult now I understand the importance of washing off my makeup and hydrating my skin. Not just with a good eye and face moisturizer but with water (drinking plenty of it).

This past week I ran out of my makeup remover wipes so I stopped wearing makeup completely just because I hate using a makeup eraser on a full face of makeup. Then I remembered I have my trusty Purity wash by Philosophy. Like always I use my Equate oil-free eye makeup remover to take off my eyeshadow, liner, and mascara. I am not particularly picky about brands when it comes to this I just make sure it doesn’t irritate me. I have had other brands do that. I soak a little cotton pad and hold it against my closed eye for some seconds to break down the makeup and then gently wipe. Once thats off I wash my face with the face wash. If I didn’t do a full face of makeup thats all I do then I just moisturize like usual. If I do I’ll wash off my makeup with Purity then  I use a second face wash or a scrub. Purity is pretty amazing and does the job (I even use it to wash my stubborn  foundation brushes and beauty blender) I just double up if I need it. It is a pricey wash but SO worth it. . . in my opinion.

10 years later I like to think I am a little wiser when it comes to my health both internal and external. Beauty begins in the inside so health and hydration is important to me along with properly caring for my skin! Like many beauty guru’s say “your skin is your canvas” so I try to care for mine as much as possible. Undo all that damage I did as a care free teenager.

If you could go back in time and tell your 18 year old self anything beauty related what would it be??

Monday Favorites

Monday Favorites

One of my favorite things to do on my down time besides reading, online window shopping, is watching videos on youtube. Some people I watch because I genuinely like their talent but others I like watching their video blogs or ‘vlogs’. Here is my top list of Youtuber’s I like to watch. They’re in no specific order.

First of is Jazminesong . . .I have spoken to her one on one. She is so talented, nice, and down to earth. We follow each other on snapchat and she’s given me pointers and has helped me whenever I have any questions.

Second is Lustrelux. . . I came across Katy when I subscribed to all of the Ipsy beauty gurus. She is so funny and has amazing talent.

Then we have Kathleenlights. Chances are you’ve seen her or have heard someone talk about her. I started watching her channel because she was also a military spouse and that made her so relatable. Not to mention she looks so much like my best friend. Also, Kathleen does a lot of drugstore looks and if you watch her for a while you’ll notice she genuinely uses drugstore products.

Nicole Guerriero , I think everyone knows her. She’s like the OG of youtube. I like watching  her beauty videos but I LOVE her video blogs ‘vlogs’ she has the cutest personality and like me knows the lyrics to almost every song she listens to. She loves cats and at times my daughter and I watch just to see the cats.

What would Lizzy do is my favorite makeup vloggers. Her personality is contagious and her makeup looks are so easy to recreate.

I am slightly obsessed with makeup videos. I always turn to youtube for reviews and makeup looks. I like challenging myself by recreating looks and maybe one day when I gain some confidence I’ll start my own channel but for now I’ll just watch and admire.

Who are some of your favorite youtubers or “beauty gurus”??

#MOTD (my spring go to look)

#MOTD (my spring go to look)

It’s been beautiful here in Florida and I’ve started to back off of foundation. It gets so hot I don’t like to pack on the products. On days we go out or to the beach I skip foundation and just opt for concealer and a face powder.  Easy, quick, light, and simple!!

We spent all of Saturday at the beach with family so I didn’t take any pictures of myself but this is basically the look I do. The only difference was I skipped the wing liner. But like usual I moisturize and prime like normal. I ALWAYS make sure my moisturizer has spf. If I’m going to wear foundation I make sure it has spf too. I did a glossy lip just to go with my “Dewey” theme. I packed on the highlight just for a fresh look.  Which I have been using the eyeshadow Satin Sheets from the Bon Bon palette. A neat trick I saw Nicole Guerriero does is she puts setting spray on her beauty blender and goes over her highlight just to set it into the skin and get rid of that powder look.

This is Saturday. Same makeup deats just no liner. By the way I really should have thought of bringing a Chapstick or lip balm with spf in it. First time in my life I have sun burned lips! Ouch!

I’m so excited for summer 2016. Anyone else?!

What are some of your spring/summer looks? Or go to products??

Monday Fave!!

Monday Fave!!

We are in the middle of moving which is such a drag! We’ve started taking down everything from the walls which included my makeup shelf. Luckily it’s not an insane amount of makeup so it was easy to pack.

For Christmas my mother in law got me a makeup traveling case to keep my makeup away from my toddler. But it’s come in handy now that we’re moving. It’s amazing and a must have for anyone that moves like we do. (My husband is active duty). So I know I’ll use it a lot.

It has multiple and adjustable compartments. The center is also open and deep to stack stuff in there. On the trays I have lip products, anything in a tube, and single eyeshadows. In the center I put my palettes. Which by the way I saved all the original packaging. I’m a bit of a hoarder 😟 (lol) so that’s come in handy! I also put all of my ipsy bags, cream contour palettes, and the brushes I don’t use every day in the center.

As you can see I have already dug through it even though I did set aside a makeup bag with every day essentials. The case itself is super sturdy as my 3yr old tested it out as a stool! The outside is a faux snake skin material. The inside trays are a hard plastic and the big compartment is felt lined. It comes with a detachable strap which would come in handy for a traveling makeup artist. . . Which is my ultimate goal! It’s pretty heavy so I’m thankful for the strap.

Anyone else this particular about their makeup during moves or vacations?!?

#MOTD

#MOTD

It’s been storming and gloomy in good ol’ Florida so I haven’t been in the mood for bright spring colors. Initially I was going for a “no makeup” makeup look but then.  . . Makeup happens!

I had done a dark berry lip Cherry bomb by Wet n Wild but decided it was too much just to lounge around the house. Even after I wiped off the lipstick (with a makeup wipe) it left a stain behind which I actually liked better. Haha!! Question, anyone else feels like no mascara on the lower lashes makes a look look softer? Or is it just me?

Here’s pretty much the same look just with a different lip. In this one I am wearing Stockholm by NYX. Excuse the hair like I mentioned it’s been raining a lot here.

I absolutely love using my bronzer as a crease shade on days I’m going simple. It just gives the lid some definition without it being too overwhelming.

You will also notice in the above photos I filled in my eyebrows which is something I don’t do often. I’ve always had very thick eyebrows so usually a clear gel has been enough but lately I’ve noticed some spots where I’m missing hair. I’m a nervous/anxious/stress picker so I’ll yank on them if I feel any of those. Im not proud of it but luckily makeup does help with that since I refuse to wax my eyebrows thinner! Anyone else do this?? Just another reason to love makeup! All I do is fill them in with a dark brown eyeshadow and a small angled brush (#215 by Luxie) and set it all with an e.l.f clear eyebrow gel. IMG_1806

Snapchat filters are everything. HAHA! Now, on that silly note I will part!

What are some of your favorite “no makeup” looks?!

NYX Liquid Lipsticks

NYX Liquid Lipsticks

If like me you jumped on the NYX band wagon then you’re no stranger to their Soft Matte Lip CreamIt was one of the first ‘liquid lipsticks’ that were soooo hyped up. So of course I had to try them out. I have a love/hate thing going on with these.

DSC_0275
This is San Paulo

Pro’s:

  • They smell amazing
  • Good color pay off (some colors)
  • They don’t transfer
  • Long lasting

Cons:

  • The applicator is crap! I usually have to use a small lip brush to even it out
  • They can be a bit drying
  • Some colors do need multiple applications (the darker colors)

When the Liquid Suede Cream released I was hesitant because of the issues with the matte lip creams. I didn’t even try to hype myself up for them although they have some gorgeous colors. BUT then Ipsy sent it out in their March Glam Bag and I was excited. I don’t mind FREE.99 because if I hate the product theres no loss.

DSC_0270
This is Kitten Heels

Pro’s:

  • The applicator is amazing
  • These aren’t so drying although they do dry to a matte finish
  • The formula is long lasting and even after I wiped it off for dinner there was a bit of a tint
  • I only have the shade Kitten Heels but one swipe of the wand and the color was vibrant and applied evenly

Con’s:

  • They transfer even after it dries
  • They smell horrible

NYX LIQUID LIPSTICKS

Here’s my mini NYX liquid lips collection. It’s not much but for myself I need to find formulas that aren’t very drying. I’ve always had sensitive lips. Mac’s matte lipsticks work well for me so do the Milani matte lipsticks. I won’t deny that there’s several liquid lipsticks in my wish list that I NEED to get! (LOL)

What are some of your faves?? Have you tried any of the new shades in the Soft Matte Lip Cream??
