Ipsy’s June Glam Bag!

Sorry I’m so late this month it has been a bit hectic with the kids and the Hubs being deployed. But there’s no time to waste let’s get right into it. This month Ipsy’s theme was “Volume Up”.

“This loud and proud pouch is a not so subtle reminder to ‘always’ speak your mind!”

DSC_0440-2

I’m not going to lie I was initially not excited about this bag. Nothing seemed appealing if maybe only the nail polish. But once I looked into it I was stoked.

What got my attention the most was this Privai Matte Moisturizer. During the summer I love to have a very matte base because I do tend to get a lot more oily.

Enhanced with Vitamins A, C and E, this oil-free moisturizer is perfect for normal to oily skin types. Natural anti-bacterial properties from Sage Extract help repair blemished skin while Grapefruit Peel Extract clarifies the complexion. Privai Website
This product retails for $30 for a big bottle. Yikes! Although I will say  so far I like it. Its taken a lot of trial and error with primers and foundations because I’ve experienced some break up with my foundation and I’m not sure whats causing it.

Up next is this nail polish by Margaret Dabbs London. The color is phenomenal. It screams summer days at the beach! This treatment enriched nail polish in Green Dailily is super thick and pigmented that one swipe guarantees a streak free application. I already tried it and love it. It reminds me of the “gel” nail polishes that are out there now a days.

To me this formula screams salon quality at home!

I can’t find the price in dollars on the website only in pounds. which 14 pounds is about 17 US dollars.

DSC_0473

This is another little gem I was surprised to like!

DSC_0466

Doucce Maxlash Volumizer Mascara. Let me begin by saying the brush and bristles themselves remind me a lot of the TooFaced Better than sex mascara. Also, the formula is very similar in the sense that it makes my lashes very dark and full looking. Except it isn’t as thick and that makes removing it super easy!

The big bottle retails for $22. The website claims, “The creamy and buildable formula is clump-resistant, flake proof, smudge proof, and resistant to sweat and humidity.” And its all true! So far I LOVE it!

DSC_0470-2

I’ve received Hey Honey products in the past and thoroughly enjoy them. This is the second mud mask I receive and I’m very excited to try it!

DSC_0474

DSC_0459

Ok, question! Am I the only that can’t figure out how to use these small samples of blush?  I love The Balm and therefore use these as eyeshadow.

Drive your beauty routine into full swing with Balm Springs® – a new long-wearing blush from theBalm® Cosmetics. This earthy rose shade compliments all skin tones. The talc-free, fade-resistant formula is perfect for hot days and even hotter nights… The Balm Website

In the end this months bag provided a lot of hidden gems.

Don’t forget Ipsy is a $10 monthly subscription where you receive 5 beauty items that ship for free. You often get one full size product! And remember REVIEW, REVIEW, REVIEW!! Not only does it further personalize your bag but it earns you points which you can redeem for more products!!

How was your bag?? Still happy with Ipsy??

Makeup

Does it work???

I am always on the hunt for a new foundation. Although I have some I absolutely love I like to give me skin breaks from certain products. Especially if its something I’ve repurchased many times. For the past couple of months I have been using Wet n Wild’s photofocus foundation which I absolutely love! In my opinion I’d say it’s very similar to Estee Lauder’s DoubleWear. But I started breaking out! I had these small tiny bumps that made my skin look so bad.

It was wasn’t like cystic acne where its big and painful. Just these tiny bumps under the skin. I thought back to what new products I’d been using and it was the combination of Milk Cosmetics face primer and the Wet n Wild foundation. So I left those behind and reverted back to my trustees, holy grail, never fail routine. Moisturize, prime with Benefit’s Porefessional, and top it off with the DoubleWear foundation. DSC_0408

But one day I got brave and walked into Sephora and explained my situation to a consultant. Sometimes I hate doing that because no one knows my skin like. . . me, right? But I went ahead and did the color match (which is something I struggle a lot with) and they did this thing where it can tell my type of skin I have. I had a ton of color hits like seriously I could find a color that matched me in every single brand!! And she said I had  normal skin.

I explained to her how I wanted to try a foundation stick and she showed me my options but I just felt that because I do have acne scars I rather stick with something that provides better coverage. That’s how I ended up with Becca’s Ultima Coverage Complexion Creme. It retails for $44 so I wanted it to work soooo bad! She sampled it on my skin and instantly I liked the coverage, BUT I’m used to very thin foundations and this is a creme.

DSC_0422.png

I bravely bought it and then looked up reviews. . . bad idea! I was so scared of it because it had mixed reviews and then I texted my BFF and she agreed the reviews were scary! LOL. But in the end I can sincerely say I’m glad I got it. Its taken me a bit to adjust to the formula and to figure out if its best applied with a sponge or brush.

DSC_0423

From my personal experience I like it better with a brush. I use the Morphe MB8 and it works AMAZING! Then when I apply my concealer I spray a little fix plus and go over all the foundation and concealer. To avoid any streaks that may be left behind. The foundation itself has no scent unlike the Wet n Wild one and one pump goes along way!

DSC_0425

For a while now I’ve sort of obsessed with the idea of getting lip injections. Simply to alter the shape of my lips and to give them more of pout. I am happy with their size but I just wish my bottom one was slightly bigger. So naturally like any other makeup obsessed person out there you find a way to make it work! And that’s how I came across this product.

DSC_0426.png

DSC_0435.png

I swear I didn’t walk into Target looking for this specific product. I had recently read somewhere that Soap and Glory had an amazing eyeliner and I wanted it! But alas they didn’t have it and I have always been curious to try their makeup products since I already loved their hand cream! While looking I noticed their lip plumper and I used to have one by TooFaced that I loveedddd but never repurchased it!

So far I like it. But does it work? I think so. It made my lips tingle and feel a little bigger but I didn’t notice much of difference. But that was my first time using it. I’m not giving up on it. I will say I hate the scent or rather, dislike! It’s like a funky chocolate smell. And not good chocolate, lol! It goes away after a while though so I can look past it. The formula is thick and sticky but I don’t mind it. I needed a break from the mattes.

I purchased mine in Clearvoyant which is a clear gloss with a tiny shimmer but there are other colors to choose from. Like a nude, pink, and even a coral. Perhaps Ill apply it remove it and line my lips to see if I notice a difference. It still retails for a lot cheaper than most lip plumping glosses, win! And maybe it’ll help me change my mind from injections!

Any Soap and Glory products you swear by? Or perhaps a foundation you love??

Blondes have more Fun or Brunettes?

I’ve waited a while to make this post! I’ve wanted to change my hair color for soooo long now. Last year I had “Enchanted forest” (from Manic Panic) green and once that cleared up I was ready for MORE! It’s been a goal of mine to go blonde. Perhaps to annoy the Hubs since he’s said he doesn’t like blonde or maybe just to figure out who has more fun; Blondes or Brunettes???

IMG_6462-2

My natural color is this ashy brown. So for me the transition was easy.

We started off with one bleach session and toned it a cool grey with Wella toner. It actually looked ashy like my natural color. IMG_0189-2

Then we did a second round of bleach. That 2nd time we didn’t tone it and left it the bright golden-yellow color. Which btw I totally rocked!

IMG_0489-2

Lastly, we did one last round of bleach and toned it again with Wella’s blue and violet toner to eliminate the orange and yellow from my hair. I love the results and maybe once we retouch my roots I’ll bleach and tone one more time. My hair has done so good with the whole process! I’m hoping using a “purple” shampoo will help eiliminate the need to tone it often. But I do see myself with some pastel colors in the future so we’ll see!

Colourpop Mini Haul

maDSC_0202

When it comes to affordable and great quality makeup Colourpop never fails. In the past I’ve purchased some eyeshadows and this time I ventured out. I got a blush, some highlights, and a gel liner. To say I’m stoked is an understatement. If you’re online at all then you’ve seen that anything unicorn or mermaid is in! We’ll begin this post with my absolute favorite items I purchased.

DSC_0221

DSC_0225.jpg

DSC_0226.jpg

Pictured here are the two highlighters I got which are Wisp and Monster. Wisp is described as a golden champagne on the Colourpop website. It is absolutely gorgeous! One swipe gives you an every day look while a few coats gives a bright “shine like a diamond” look. Monster is. . . I don’t know if there are enough words to describe its beauty. As you can see by the picture it looks white and that’s because its holographic (if you follow makeup then you know Kat Von D has some too). It goes on pink! On the colourpop website it is described as “a cute light pink opalescent duo chrome”.

DSC_0219

DSC_0217.jpg

The blush is a gorgeous peach. Holiday is described as a “mid tone pinky peach”.

DSC_0229

I also went ahead and purchased some shadows that were transition shades. If I am completely honest I live for a simple every day eye. Which is basically a base with a transition shade and some liner. I normally go for browns but both these colors caught my eye!

DSC_0230

First up is “Bill” as you can see its a cool mauve shade.

DSC_0234

“Brady” is a warmer rose shade. It is perfect for a light dust of color.

Last but not least is Colourpop’s gel liner in “Swerve”. A very black creamy gel liner.

I was over all so happy with my purchase and I can’t wait to actually do some makeup looks with them! I also changed my hair and I can’t wait to show you guys.

Any Colourpop products you absolutely love? Any holy grails I should check out??

Until next time. . .

Ipsy’s April Glam Bag

DSC_0080

I cannot get over how adorable this months bag is! It also featured some amazing items and people! I personally love Bailey Sarian and have spoken to her one on one. It’s amazing to see her out there doing what she so clearly loves!

DSC_0097.png

DSC_0093.jpg

To say I was excited to be receiving a brush again is an understatement. I was ECSTATIC!! I absolutely love Luxie and blue is my favorite color. I was as excited as a child on Christmas Day! You know the drill: cruelty free brand, synthetic bristles, and super soft and affordable. I swear by Luxie.

DSC_0100

Something else I was super stoked about was this Colourpop creme gel liner. Once again it’s one of my favorite brands. It is very affordable and really good quality.

dsc_0105.jpg

I received the color “Swerve” (black) and have yet to use it. But when I swatched it was very pigmented and have heard nothing but awesome things about it!

DSC_0088

The last loose pigment I received from Naked cosmetics was a gorgeous Champagne/goldish color I use sooooo much in halo eyes, a quick swipe on the lid for an every day look, or with some fix+ for a super vibrant night out look. The shade shown here is “Heavy metal #4” and it’s a copper/rust shade. GORGEOUS! I also read on the ipsy website this loose pigment can be used as a polish (check out YouTube for that). Can’t wait to try it that way!

DSC_0092.jpg

Let me begin by saying that the name to this little lip balm is adorable. “Besame mucho” translate to kiss me a lot in Spanish! I haven’t used it myself but my 4-year-old has because she had severe chapped lips.

Heard of propolis? We hadn’t either. It’s an extract from beehives that both hydrates and is antibacterial. This balm has loads of it, plus shea butter.
Lips feeling parched? Slather on a super thick coat to turn this into an overnight lip mask.  – Ipsy website

DSC_0091

Have you ever used aloe beyond sunburn season? We hadn’t either. But now we can’t live without it.
It’s cooling, refreshing, smoothing, and it feels ahhhh-mayyyy-zing.
Aloe is naturally regenerative, so it will help balance out any redness or uneven skin tone.
The gel texture also makes a killer makeup primer. –Ipsy website

The balancing of redness and the fact that it can be used as a primer sucked me into this product. I will be using it soon and I hope I love it because we love aloe!! All I remember is our trips to Mexico getting sunburned and breaking open an aloe plant to sooth our sunburns with it.

Overall I am very happy and excited with this months bag, The theme and bag itself is adorable! The products all seem so great and I’m sure that’s because I am constantly reviewing the products on the ipsy website. SO get those points and review, review, REVIEW!!

On another note, I want to apologize for the late post. If you read any of my other blog posts: Life Update: Deployment, Moving, & no more puppy! Then you know my little family is going through our first deployment as a family of four. The idea of being apart doesn’t scare me because I have faith in our marriage and faith & trust in my husband. But I have been scared and emotional because of everything going on in the world. I intend to fully submerge and commit myself to my blog to have a distraction but this past week had just been insane. If any other military spouses are going through this and want to connect or need someone to talk to feel free to search for me on my social media and PM me so we can help each other through this.

THANKS FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING 💖

Spring. . . Will it ever come?!

If like me you are up north/midwest then you know spring is never coming for us. When I was still in Florida spring was in full bloom at a nice sunny 70+ degrees. But just because it doesn’t feel like spring doesn’t  mean it is not spring because technically it is. That’s how I justified my spring look!

IMG_6462-2

As you can see we are still in sweaters 😩 To achieve this look I used my new favorite shadows: Colourpop pressed shadows!

IMG_6457-2.jpg

I went for a halo eye but sadly didn’t get a good pic. I however wanted to put the focus on my skin. I wanted to make it look healthy, hydrated, and glowy!

  • Primer: Milk Cosmetics “Blur stick”
  • Foundation: Wet n Wild
  • Concealer: Tarte “shape tape”
  • Setting powder: RCMA

Overall I was so happy with this look and I definitely feel like it can be played up with some fluttery lashes and a bold lip. As you can see I was just at home with my little and I never felt like it was “too much”.

Makeup

Love it OR Hate it??

I feel like the word hate should never be used when speaking about makeup, am I right? But today I bring you some products I love and maybe one I hate or dislike. I’m not sure yet but I’ll explain why.

DSC_0044.jpg

My first love is this moisturizer from Burt’s Bees. I’ve always liked this company and even more after I watched the documentary on it. I purchased this particular item when we traveled and I forgot my moisturizer at home. As someone who is acne prone and very oily I have a hard time finding products that go well with my skin. This daily moisturizing cream in sensitive has been awesome.

• Softens and can help shield skin from potential irritants with Cotton Extract
• Moisturizes with Rice Extract
• Formulated with Jojoba Esters, a natural emollient
• Does not cause redness or irritation
• All day formula
• Formulated with Aloe to soothe
• Fragrance Free and Hypoallergenic
• Allergy Tested and Dermatologist Tested – Burt’s Bees website

DSC_0045

Once again Milk cosmetics blur stick is back on the “love” list. I can’t get enough of it. #MOTD & First Impressions Here I talk more about it. As of now I am still in love. My skin has changed, again! The dry patches are gone but now I have a lot of textured skin. I can’t figure out what’s causing it. But this primer has definitely helped with evening out my face’s appearance.

DSC_0047

This is my hate/dislike. This is Urban Decay’s All Nighter Liquid foundation. At first I absolutely loved this foundation. It stays matte all day. . . But here is what I dislike: it oxidizes bad. It changes almost three whole shades. It’s also started to separate on the skin. I can’t figure out if its my routine before applying the foundation or the foundation itself. I mentioned this to my best friend and she looked up reviews and I guess they’re pretty bad. I also feel like I can’t set it with just any setting spray. I think that’s what adds to the separation.

DSC_0048.jpg

My last LOVE is Tarte’s  Double Duty Beauty Shape tape contour concealer. This concealer took the internet by storm. Of course I also jumped on the bandwagon and haven’t looked back since. It is everything a concealer is supposed to be or do? lol! For a while it was so hard to find it in stores. Something about Tarte not making enough for the demand of it. A little goes a long way so one swipe from the applicator is enough to cover the under eye.

Sculpt and highlight as you mask imperfections with this 2-in-1 full coverage concealer. The hydrating, longwearing formula delivers natural, radiant coverage across all skin types so you can instantly brighten and cover acne, dark circles and redness while softening the look of pores and fine lines. Wear it 1-2 shades lighter or darker, and it works as a creamy highlighter or contouring stick with a lightweight, blendable formula and tapered wand applicator ideal for precise strobing and sculpting. Powered by Amazonian clay and conditioning mango seed and shea butters, the nutrient-rich concealer helps promote skin elasticity and illumination with each crease-free application. Apply it with the all-in-one Quickie Blending Sponge (sold separately) for a quick, complexion fix and flake-free finish anywhere.

Cruelty free, gluten-free, vegan. –Ulta website

What are some of your favorites? & some of your dislikes? Any on your list the same as mine?

Current Obsession. . . It’s Perfumes!!

DSC_0035-3.jpg

I am the type of person who loves to drench myself in perfume therefore I like to have options. I actually get most of my scent ideas from my best friend. Most of the perfumes I’ll be talking about my best friend put me on to!

DSC_0031.jpg

One of my ultimate favorites of all time is this CK in2 you for her. It smells so good and not girly at all. I could seriously wear mens cologne and be ok with it. This perfume gives off a nice manly scent while still being feminine. I cant explain it. I’ve repurchased it twice already!

DSC_0025

Flora by Gucci is a classic scent. I don’t usually go for fruity scents. It’s just not me! And this is far from fruity! Therefore its right up my alley!

Gucci Flora is a subtle, sophisticated, floral fragrance inspired by princesses from the past, present, and future. The Flora Donna is a young, classic, and refined woman with the ‘Gucci edge’ of power and sensuality. The first Flora scarf was exclusively designed for Princess Grace of Monaco in 1966 and soon became one of the most popular Gucci icons. This scent is an expression of the Flora legacy. Its seductive layers mirror the playful details and bright colors that channel the heart of a fashion empire. –Sephora website

DSC_0028.jpg

FlowerBomb by Viktor & Rolf is a crowd favorite! Its been seen all over YouTube and Pinterest. For good reason, it has a rich floral aroma that lingers but doesn’t overpower the senses.

DSC_0030.jpg

I was introduced to Jimmy Choo by my sister and have been loving it!

An exotic fragrance for the strong and modern Jimmy Choo woman. A sensual fruity chypre with top notes of pear and sweet Italian orange, heart notes of tiger orchid and bottom notes of toffee and Indonesian patchouli. Exotic prints are part of the Jimmy Choo DNA and the python print wrapped around the packaging is an iconic signature reference to this. –Jimmy Choo website

DSC_0032.jpg

Sexy, fresh Oriental fragrance recalls the irrepressible spirit of the young Coco Chanel. An elegant, luxurious spray closest in strength and character to the parfum form. Spray lightly on pulse points morning and evening. The classic bottle signifies personal luxury and is a welcome addition to any dressing table. Sephora website

Ipsy March Glam Bag

DSC_0464

Am I the only one that can’t decide to keep Ipsy or move on to a different subscription bag/box?? It’s like every time I’m ready to part ways Ipsy lures me in with some good products. This month did just that to me. Well, any time I get a brush I get excited, LOL!! This months theme is “Tres Jolie”, very French’y! The bag itself is so beautiful and big. I can totally see it being my new makeup bag for the on the go.

DSC_0439

DSC_0440

I cannot have enough blending brushes. It’s like my little obsession. So naturally this is what I was super excited for. It is a tapered blending brush by Beau Gachis. It retails for $12 so this alone paid for this months bag!

Our quality all natural tapered blending brush is perfect for blending in shadows into the crease, creating that perfect smokey eye, or even adding highlight to your cheekbones. This versatile brush is simply a must have for your beauty collection.

Made with high-grade synthetic fibers
Durable aluminum ferrule

I’ve gotten some Marc Anthony products before that I loved so much I repurchased myself.  This Marc Anthony True Professional
Deep Repair Aloe Vera & Jasmine Oil Deep Repairing Conditioning Treatment
looks very promising and I can’t wait to try it. (sorry I didn’t get a picture of it)

Marc Anthony Deep Repair Aloe Vera & Jasmine Oil Deep Conditioning Packet – revives overworked, dry hair and corrects, hydrates and softens brittle, dehydrated, extra damaged hair. lightweight enough for all hair types. Reveals a lustrous shine. –Ulta website

DSC_0468

This packaging alone had me hooked. My daughter and I thought it was a lip balm so we were stoked because ITS SO CUTE!! But then I read under that it’s for the face so really quick I went to the Ipsy website to look it up! It is Ladykin
Affinitic Snail Cream. . . for the face. Again, something else I’m stoked to try.

You KNOW any Korean brand is going to be good.
Don’t get grossed out, but this contains snail secretion—yes, from snails—an ingredient that works wonders for skin. Seriously, it’s a thing.
That snail stuff helps to heal damaged skin, boost elasticity, and leave your complexion smooth and hydrated.
Plus, this cream also protects from irritants and prevents water loss. Snail cream for the win, people! –ipsy website

First off how cute? My husband says I like very small things which is true! Sometimes I purchase a sample size just because it’s so darn cute!! But Tarte is an awesome brand and I had yet to try any of their liquid lipsticks. I have a love hate thing for liquid lipsticks and have had such a hard time finding a formula that works with me. I have always had sensitive lips; glosses break me out and some liquid lipsticks give me allergic reactions (colourpop’s Lippie stick) that have landed me at the doctor’s office. This is described as a quick dry velvet matte lip paint in the color “Vibe”. The color is a deep red that will be perfect for date night. Which we need, asap!!

DSC_0482

Last but not least is this Eyeko Fat Eye stick in “Satin”.

Like a chubby crayon, this shadow stick delivers creamy color that you can quickly swipe on, even when there’s no mirror around.
The shade (goldish, but with silvery undertones), is the ideal metallic for any and all eye colors or shadow looks.
Layer under powder shadow and buff it out to create a sultry situation.
Worn on its own, it gives lids a gorgeous sheen (v. on trend at the moment).
It’s a twist-up, so there’s no need to stress about keeping a sharpener handy. –ipsy website

Over all I am so happy with this months bag!! Maybe one day I’ll make up my mind about keeping ipsy or not, but for now, I will! Even with the big move I have already changed my shipping address. Can’t wait to see what other great stuff I discover through ipsy!

What was in your March glam bag?? Were they all hits or misses??

Laura Mercier & RCMA Setting Powder

Laura Mercier

If like me you tend to get oily then you understand the importance of a setting powder. I am also the type of person that when they find something that works I will stick to it indefinitely if possible, lol! That was the case with the Laura Mercier translucent setting powder.

DSC_0404-2.png

I swear by it! Especially during hot Florida summers. I thought nothing could beat it! It has some amazing properties:

Modern Matte Finish

Creates a modern matte finish with a touch of sheer coverage. The translucent shade works on virtually all skin tones.

Soft-Focus Effect for a More Flawless Look

Like all Laura Mercier Setting Powders, it has a soft-focus effect that subtly blurs the look of fine lines and imperfections. Doesn’t settle into fine lines or pores and never looks cakey.

Formulation Details

Oil-free. Non-comedogenic. Non-caking. Dermatologically tested. Laura Mercier Website

BUT I noticed that for winter it was horrible. It dried my under eye soooo much! I mean to the point that I felt some tightening in that area that was very uncomfortable. I tried several setting sprays and even a more “dewey” concealer for my under eye but I wasn’t having it. It’s very important for me to have my under eye set because I have a natural deep crease below my lower lash line that if not set correctly foundation and concealer while pile up in there. Its very annoying because I noticed that affect makes me look tired.

That’s when I went on a quest and considered a pressed setting powder. Which I was using MAC’s powdered foundation to set the rest of my face but it was clinging to my dry spots I mentioned in this post. I know I know a powder foundation isn’t a setting powder but I had it so I gave it a shot. Then my BFF mentioned the RCMA setting powder. She never steers me wrong so naturally I looked into it. I looked at many reviews and everyone seemed to love it.

DSC_0411.png

When you first see it its a little strange because of the packaging it comes in. It looks like something that belongs in the kitchen in the seasoning section! LOL! But don’t be put off by it. This loose powder is just as amazing as the Laura Mercier one. It sets beautifully on the skin. Has no flash back which if you’re going out and are taking pictures with the flash on you know this is important. The best part is how affordable it is. While the big container of the Laura Mercier retails for $38 this one is only $12. It can be found here. It doesn’t do the drying thing the other one did which I was so thankful for. And it sets beautifully with any setting spray. Now like my best friend mentioned it does look a bit white after you apply it but that can be solved with some setting spray!

Now both these powders can be applied with a damp beauty blender, a setting brush, even a big puffy brush like I pictured. But if you’re not into baking (which you can do with both powders) a brush will do just as good as the sponge. The only problem with the RCMA is the container itself doesn’t have anywhere to put the powder so I find myself trying to squeeze my brush in it or dumping a ton out on a surface. So if that’s an issue for you I’d stick with the damp sponge.

Over all I love the performance of both powders. This isn’t a comparison or a dupe post it’s simply me talking about two products I love. Maybe I’d think of it as a “winter and summer setting powder”.

Are there any other setting powders you love/recommend? I am always on the hunt for some good setting products! 🤗

Until next time. . .
