What I eat in a day

What I eat in a day

Hello everyone! This is a bit of a different post. I wanted to share something with everyone. . . I have made a choice to change the way I’ve been eating/living. Often times when we fall into hard times we deal with it in different ways. Some people can’t eat when stressed, depressed, or in a “funk”. Me, personally I stress eat.

My current starting weight is/was 170 lbs. I don’t feel healthy or even good about this. When playing with my kids I run out breathe fast and we stopped going for walks. So about a week ago I decided enough is ENOUGH!

The first thing I did was open up my MyFitnessPal app IMG_1593

I set my weight and goal which then it generated me at 1330 calories a day. In the past I think there were days were I could easily consume two or three times that! 😣 It’s not easy to admit that but when stressed or bored I ate. Hungry or not I found myself reaching for the pantry!

My goal isn’t “get skinny” it’s BE HEALTHY! Show my children better choices. I’d also like to mention I had gestational diabetes with my daughter and there’s a history of diabetes in my family. Change meant more vegetables & fruit, less take out, and smaller portions.

IMG_1577

This is what a breakfast has been looking for me. I try to keep my meals between 300-400 calories per meal. This deliciousness is 315 calories. My K cup of French Vanilla 100% Arabica Coffee was 5. 3 medium eggs 180 going at 60 calories per egg. Spinach is around 70 calories for a whole bag but I only used a handful so I rounded it to about 10 calories. I use turkey bacon and each slice is 25 cals. and I had 3, 75 cals. And for my coffee I used sugar-free French vanilla creamer, 3 tablespoons at 15cals each so 45 calories.

IMG_1583

For lunch I do one of two things: have left overs from dinner or go to my “go to” meal. Pictured here is a meal that averaged 345 calories. Sun Dried tomato chicken sausage 90 calories each and I have 2, 180 cals. Half cup of mixed veggies, 45 cals. Baby Brussel sprouts lightly sauced, 60 cals for half a cup. 1/4 cup of pinto beans, 60 cals. (I had left overs from dinner the night before if not I’d do half a cup of beans too.) Not pictured is siracha sauce drizzled on my sausages. Siracha is 0 cals! 🤩

In between meals I snack. Usually fruit and peanut butter. Or a slice of toast and peanut butter.

IMG_1580

This nights dinner averaged 390 cals. 3oz of skirt steak, 187 cals. Half cup of pinto beans, 120 cals. Pico salsa 4 tablespoons about 33 cals. Now sometimes its hard to get an accurate number if its something I can’t just scan. MyFitnessPal gives you the option to manually enter ingredients and generates a recipes caloric amount. And lastly a spinach and herb tortilla wrap, 50 cals.

With each meal I have just water. Unless I’m having a craving then I’ll have a La’Croix.  But I read carbonated drinks don’t help during weightless because of the carbonation.

IMG_1558

Homemade chicken tacos and black beans, 724 cals.

On days like this I try to stick to a breakfast and lunch that has no bread because I know my dinner will be high in calories. But I rather give into my cravings and have control over what I eat than go out and have a meal full of ’empty calories’.

IMG_1572

Here we had homemade “general tso”. This meal averaged 479 calories. It was so good and could hardly tell it wasn’t take out.

I try to do the typical 10,000 steps a day and usually get between 4-7k. I’m a stay at home mom so sometimes its hard to get out. But that’s part of the change. . . do stuff as family so we have started going on walks. I also walk the kids to the furthest playground from our house to get in some steps (1 mile there one back).

I’d like to mention that I read that using smaller plates help with portion control. Something about not feeling the need to fill a huge plate with food. I also take my time chewing. I was a slow eater to begin with but I read being conscious of the food we eat, savoring, enjoying it helps.

IMG_1591

This is what my progress looks like. This caloric counting is supposed to average a weight-loss of a pound a week and from the 16th to the 20th I lost 2 lbs! Such a great boost! I weigh myself every Friday morning. I don’t know whats recommended since I’m obviously no expert. But besides those 2 lbs lost I’ve noticed other changes in me. I don’t run out of breath while going up the stairs. My headaches have been less. I’m less tired and less lethargic.

IMG_1584

IMG_1586

It had honestly been so long since I had taken a selfie. Maybe, I think, my last makeup post. I know two pounds is nothing but to myself it feels great!

Anyone starting a weightless journey?? Any tips or advice??

Until next time. . .

Change is coming. . .

Change is coming. . .

Hello everyone! I want to say my typical “sorry I’ve been gone but. . . ” but I have no excuse. Truth is back in late January I had a miscarriage. I tried using my blog and shopping to ease my pain and get my mind off of things but truth is I hadn’t. Emotionally I hadn’t recovered and I wasn’t in an ok place.

I’ve slowly started to accept it and realize that I still have a wonderful husband and two children that need me.

IMG_1465

So with that being said I’d like to announce that my blog will be changing a bit. I will be doing more lifestyle posts. I will never give up on makeup or lose my love for it. But I just don’t have the money to keep up. I believe in writing about what I love and I won’t settle for just any makeup just to produce content.

I will still do makeup related posts. I just want to include more on what my life is like aside from makeup. I just realized most days I don’t wear makeup. My husband’s job has been crazy busy and that leaves me with a 5-year-old and 1-year-old all day. Truth is I have no time to beat my face.

Instead follow me on my journey that revolves around food, family, and long days at the beach!

I’d also like to let you guys know we have a YouTube channel where we vlog. It hasn’t kicked off yet and I’m still adjusting to recording our every day and editing. Also, figuring out what camera works best! But if you’d like to check it out at The Egan’s Vlog

Hopefully this change doesn’t mean we’re parting ways instead it’ll bring us closer. I personally love beauty blogs/channels and lifestyle types. I will try to stay with my Monday Wednesday Friday schedule. But if need be I will change them.

If there’s anything specific you guys want to see or want me to post about just let me know!

I am so excited for this change!

Do any of you have a Youtube channel? Link it pleaese so I can check it out!

Blondes have more Fun or Brunettes?

Blondes have more Fun or Brunettes?

I’ve waited a while to make this post! I’ve wanted to change my hair color for soooo long now. Last year I had “Enchanted forest” (from Manic Panic) green and once that cleared up I was ready for MORE! It’s been a goal of mine to go blonde. Perhaps to annoy the Hubs since he’s said he doesn’t like blonde or maybe just to figure out who has more fun; Blondes or Brunettes???

IMG_6462-2

My natural color is this ashy brown. So for me the transition was easy.

We started off with one bleach session and toned it a cool grey with Wella toner. It actually looked ashy like my natural color. IMG_0189-2

Then we did a second round of bleach. That 2nd time we didn’t tone it and left it the bright golden-yellow color. Which btw I totally rocked!

IMG_0489-2

Lastly, we did one last round of bleach and toned it again with Wella’s blue and violet toner to eliminate the orange and yellow from my hair. I love the results and maybe once we retouch my roots I’ll bleach and tone one more time. My hair has done so good with the whole process! I’m hoping using a “purple” shampoo will help eiliminate the need to tone it often. But I do see myself with some pastel colors in the future so we’ll see!

Life Update: Deployment, Moving, & no more puppy!

Life Update: Deployment, Moving, & no more puppy!

Untitled-5.jpg

As the title says some changes have happened in our lives. I can’t tell you which one has been the hardest on us. In the next few weeks the husband will be leaving us to go over seas for a 6 month deployment. This will be the 3rd deployment we experience as a couple. This one is especially hard on me because now we have two kids. The first one we were just engaged. The second I was pregnant and gave birth to our daughter while he was gone. And this one he’s leaving behind two kids and will be missing our daughters first day of school, her birthday, and the babies first Halloween (this is important to me, LOL).

Because of the deployment I decided to stay with my family up in Chicago. This is such a change from the weather to giving up our own space. We will stay with my parents. I’m very excited to be around family and to have some extra hands to help. I however do feel bad the hubs will have to pack up the whole house on his own, again!

And last but not least Chase the black Pomeranian went to his forever home. He was a gift for my mother and we weren’t sure if she was going to like him. Luckily she did and he gets along with her French papillon. She’s a much older dog and even so they got along perfectly fine!

On to some happy news: my picture from my March Ipsy glam bag was featured on the Beau Gachis Instagram! So exciting!

Any other military spouses out there? Any advice? Any advice on how to deal and help the kids adjust to the change??

Until next time. . .

Get to know me tag + Photos

Get to know me tag + Photos

I’ve decided its been much-needed to do a post like this. I sometimes feel like my blog is a bit . . . detached from me. Also, I’ve ben thinking of making it more uniform. Stick to a color scheme. Anyone else feel like this? Maybe its like spring cleaning, lol, but cleaning up my blog. Instead of doing a simple 30 questions tag I went ahead and added some options from a “March Photo challenge”. Lets get started!!

  1. Current relationship: I am happily married since 2011. He’s the love of my life and my forever!
  2. Where would you like to be in 10 years? My husband is active duty military so this question is a bit out of my hands. He is making a career out of it so I don’t know where we will be in a year lol. But hopefully in 10 years we own a house, some land, have more puppies, and more kids!
  3. Top 5 pet peeves: hmm, I hate when something needs to get done and people don’t listen to instructions. I hate asking for help or making myself vulnerable and it be for nothing. I hate how inconsistent I am about dealing with what I want, goals. I seriously dislike repeating myself. I don’t like when people move MY seat in the car/truck. LOL
  4. Animal/pet (photo): Here we have Chase and Marie. Chase is a gift for my mom but he’s staying with us for a bit. He’s an 8 week old Pomeranian. Marie is our dog and she’s a 2Yr old bull-terrier.

  5. Fave comfort foods and why: This is tough one for me. I love food. Hahaha But for comfort my moms cooking takes the price! Tamales, pozole, star soup. LOL! I also love southern comfort food. Green beans, chicken, Mac and cheese. MMM!!
  6. Zodiac sign and does it fit you? I am a Scorpio and from everything I read I am exactly like it to a T.
  7. Flowers (photo): I took this photo in our backyard when we lived on base.DSC_0180
  8. Something that makes you smile (photo): My little family

  9. If you could have any job what would it be? I’d wanna be rich and famous for nothing! haha JUST KIDDING! I’d wanna be one of those people who care for pandas. Or something to do with makeup. Work for a brand. Own my own brand.
  10. What is your guilty pleasure? Cookies, cake, cupcakes, and makeup. Also getting away to get my nails done. ME TIME! And reading. I read a lot.
  11. Something blue (photo): Panama City, Fl

  12.  Bulletpoint your day: *wake up feed baby *try to work out if not hang out with the baby *wake up daughter and eat breakfast *clean *have lunch *get kids ready *wait for hubby *have dinner *spend time together *get kids ready for bed *bed time
  13. Where would you like to live/visit: Spain, Hawaii, Paris, Greece, and live in Colorado.
  14. Eyes (photo): Love this pic of my daughters eyesimg_6143
  15. Shoes (photo): img_6094
  16. Highs & lows of this year: We had our son. The best high of the year. Low? My husband deploys for 6mos in about a month.

  18. What book could you read over and over again? Easy, Harry Potter series
  19. Biggest regret in life: Meeting my hs sweetheart.
  20. Hobby (photo):
  21. Fave tv show and why? I will forever love Gossip Girl. I read and own all the books and I constantly watch it over and over again. Friends. Friends for life! But something more recent? Game of Thrones of course I mean death, Hordo, and Jon Snow. Nuff said.
  22. Stripes (photo): dsc_0302
  23. Celebrities you find attractive: hmmm. . .  Chris Pratt. Tom Hardy. Bella Thorne. The girl who plays Rosita on Walking dead LOL

Affordable at home Manicure

Affordable at home Manicure

I’ve never done a post like this but this set up is too good not share! Since having the baby I haven’t had the time or heart to go to a nail salon and get a decent manicure. These products are what works best for me. I went through a lot of polishes to get this perfect set up *insert evil laugh!*

dsc_0182

I start off by softening and removing my cuticle with the Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover. It’s so easy to use: apply the product for 15 seconds (no longer than a minute), push it up with the cuticle stick, and voila clean cuticle free nails. Then I cut my nails to the desired size. For me it’s short because of the little tike. DSC_0193.png

This next step I need because I have ridges on my nails so I smooth them out a bit just to get rid of them.

dsc_0198

After that I wash my hands to get rid of any dust and moisturize with this Soap And Glory The Righteous Butter. It smells so good and its so thick and buttery it provides a lot of moisture.

dsc_0204

dsc_0200dsc_0187

For myself gel nail polishes are my favorite! Both these polishes are affordable. The Sinful Colors retails for $1.98 at Walmart STEAL! The L.A. Colors I also got at Walmart for the same price. Now both these polishes have a top coat that promotes a longer longevity of the polish but. . .dsc_0192

These two are my go to top coats. For a salon finish I recommend the Essie Gel Setter. It’s a bit pricey but so worth it. It gives that thick wet look without having to cure it like regular salon gel polishes. The O.P.I top coat is very basic and doesn’t last as long as the essie but definitely lasts longer than any other top coat.

Now I know nothing beats the feeling of getting pampered and having a hand massage, lol, but this is a quick at home diy manicure. I love it and can vouch my nails look pretty for 2-3 weeks. I bet if I wasn’t a germaphobe with the baby and didn’t have to wash bottles every night it would last even longer.

What are some of your favorite polishes or some diy home pampering??

Thanks for reading I hope you enjoyed this post! -Prissy 💖
