What I eat in a day

Hello everyone! This is a bit of a different post. I wanted to share something with everyone. . . I have made a choice to change the way I’ve been eating/living. Often times when we fall into hard times we deal with it in different ways. Some people can’t eat when stressed, depressed, or in a “funk”. Me, personally I stress eat.

My current starting weight is/was 170 lbs. I don’t feel healthy or even good about this. When playing with my kids I run out breathe fast and we stopped going for walks. So about a week ago I decided enough is ENOUGH!

The first thing I did was open up my MyFitnessPal app IMG_1593

I set my weight and goal which then it generated me at 1330 calories a day. In the past I think there were days were I could easily consume two or three times that! 😣 It’s not easy to admit that but when stressed or bored I ate. Hungry or not I found myself reaching for the pantry!

My goal isn’t “get skinny” it’s BE HEALTHY! Show my children better choices. I’d also like to mention I had gestational diabetes with my daughter and there’s a history of diabetes in my family. Change meant more vegetables & fruit, less take out, and smaller portions.

This is what a breakfast has been looking for me. I try to keep my meals between 300-400 calories per meal. This deliciousness is 315 calories. My K cup of French Vanilla 100% Arabica Coffee was 5. 3 medium eggs 180 going at 60 calories per egg. Spinach is around 70 calories for a whole bag but I only used a handful so I rounded it to about 10 calories. I use turkey bacon and each slice is 25 cals. and I had 3, 75 cals. And for my coffee I used sugar-free French vanilla creamer, 3 tablespoons at 15cals each so 45 calories.

For lunch I do one of two things: have left overs from dinner or go to my “go to” meal. Pictured here is a meal that averaged 345 calories. Sun Dried tomato chicken sausage 90 calories each and I have 2, 180 cals. Half cup of mixed veggies, 45 cals. Baby Brussel sprouts lightly sauced, 60 cals for half a cup. 1/4 cup of pinto beans, 60 cals. (I had left overs from dinner the night before if not I’d do half a cup of beans too.) Not pictured is siracha sauce drizzled on my sausages. Siracha is 0 cals! 🤩

In between meals I snack. Usually fruit and peanut butter. Or a slice of toast and peanut butter.

This nights dinner averaged 390 cals. 3oz of skirt steak, 187 cals. Half cup of pinto beans, 120 cals. Pico salsa 4 tablespoons about 33 cals. Now sometimes its hard to get an accurate number if its something I can’t just scan. MyFitnessPal gives you the option to manually enter ingredients and generates a recipes caloric amount. And lastly a spinach and herb tortilla wrap, 50 cals.

With each meal I have just water. Unless I’m having a craving then I’ll have a La’Croix.  But I read carbonated drinks don’t help during weightless because of the carbonation.

On days like this I try to stick to a breakfast and lunch that has no bread because I know my dinner will be high in calories. But I rather give into my cravings and have control over what I eat than go out and have a meal full of ’empty calories’.

Here we had homemade “general tso”. This meal averaged 479 calories. It was so good and could hardly tell it wasn’t take out.

I try to do the typical 10,000 steps a day and usually get between 4-7k. I’m a stay at home mom so sometimes its hard to get out. But that’s part of the change. . . do stuff as family so we have started going on walks. I also walk the kids to the furthest playground from our house to get in some steps (1 mile there one back).

I’d like to mention that I read that using smaller plates help with portion control. Something about not feeling the need to fill a huge plate with food. I also take my time chewing. I was a slow eater to begin with but I read being conscious of the food we eat, savoring, enjoying it helps.

This is what my progress looks like. This caloric counting is supposed to average a weight-loss of a pound a week and from the 16th to the 20th I lost 2 lbs! Such a great boost! I weigh myself every Friday morning. I don’t know whats recommended since I’m obviously no expert. But besides those 2 lbs lost I’ve noticed other changes in me. I don’t run out of breath while going up the stairs. My headaches have been less. I’m less tired and less lethargic.

It had honestly been so long since I had taken a selfie. Maybe, I think, my last makeup post. I know two pounds is nothing but to myself it feels great!

Change is coming. . .

Change is coming. . .

Hello everyone! I want to say my typical “sorry I’ve been gone but. . . ” but I have no excuse. Truth is back in late January I had a miscarriage. I tried using my blog and shopping to ease my pain and get my mind off of things but truth is I hadn’t. Emotionally I hadn’t recovered and I wasn’t in an ok place.

I’ve slowly started to accept it and realize that I still have a wonderful husband and two children that need me.

So with that being said I’d like to announce that my blog will be changing a bit. I will be doing more lifestyle posts. I will never give up on makeup or lose my love for it. But I just don’t have the money to keep up. I believe in writing about what I love and I won’t settle for just any makeup just to produce content.

I will still do makeup related posts. I just want to include more on what my life is like aside from makeup. I just realized most days I don’t wear makeup. My husband’s job has been crazy busy and that leaves me with a 5-year-old and 1-year-old all day. Truth is I have no time to beat my face.

Instead follow me on my journey that revolves around food, family, and long days at the beach!

I’d also like to let you guys know we have a YouTube channel where we vlog. It hasn’t kicked off yet and I’m still adjusting to recording our every day and editing. Also, figuring out what camera works best! But if you’d like to check it out at The Egan’s Vlog

Hopefully this change doesn’t mean we’re parting ways instead it’ll bring us closer. I personally love beauty blogs/channels and lifestyle types. I will try to stay with my Monday Wednesday Friday schedule. But if need be I will change them.
