Colourpop Pressed Shadows & More

dsc_0276

Normally I like to post at least one Makeup Of The Day (MOTD) a week but we are once again in the middle of a move (story of my life, huh?). Instead I thought I’d do a post I’ve been dying to do! A while back I got a visa gift card and did not know what to get.

dsc_0302

Through Ipsy I’ve gotten pans of shadows and blush so I purchased a z palette to hold it all together. Ever since I’ve been wanting to purchase some single shadows but there’s so many options out there that I was over whelmed. As a stay at home with one income I’ve learned that not everything that’s raved about on Youtube is worth your buck. So I narrowed it down to three company’s I’d want to buy single shadows from: Mac, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and Makeup Geek.

dsc_0277
The three bottom shadows are Makeup Geeks Peach smoothie, Cocoa bear, and Faux fur.

dsc_0316Mac didn’t have any and Anatasia Beverly Hills were $12 per pan! (I had a mini heart attack when I saw the price) The best reasonably priced were Makeup Geek. We’ve seen them everywhere and have heard great things. Unlike the ABH shadows these retailed for HALF THE PRICE! I know amazing right?! Of course I bought the most popular shadows: Peach smoothie, Cocoa bear, and Faux fur. I absolutely love them. They’re very pigmented and blend soooo smoothly. I recommend them.

dsc_0273

The stars of this post are the Colourpop Pressed shadows. Anything you’ve heard about these is true! Colourpop specializes in affordable dazzling colors and when it came to these shadows they delivered.  I purchased Running late (the first pan in the palette) which reminds me a lot of peach smoothie, Wake up call (a soft brown that is perfect as a transition shade), Mili I actually received free because Colourpop reached 1,000,000 likes on Facebook (the only shimmer I got), Wait for it (the first pan in the second row) is a pretty soft pink/coral that I love as a transition shade, Stay Golden is the hot pink of the bunch, and last but not least is Piece of Cake which is described as a beautiful Indigo on the Colourpop website.

dsc_0320

Some pros to these shadows are the color pay off. They are very pigmented and a little goes a long way. They are also very very easy to blend and buttery. Like the other Colourpop shadows they come in bright pretty shades. Cons? When you dip your brush you’ll notice it has a lot of fall out. One more . . . the blue is a bit sheer but with some layering it does good. Now this will be music to your ears these only retail for $5!!

dsc_0323

Compared to the Makeup geek the only difference is that they have very little fall out. But I have one more shadow to talk about that I actually got in an Ipsy bag. It is the Ofra cosmetics “You Glow Girl”. It is a colab Ofra Cosmetics did with “dupethat” and it is a pretty pink shimmer that can be used for the face or eyes. I personally use it as just an eyeshadow. My opinion here will be of this product used as an eyeshadow not a highlighter (although I have used it as a highlight). This also has a lot of fall out. But the color pay off is awesome and it is such a beauty to use in a halo eye.

Over all I am so happy with how my Z palette is looking and I can’t wait to add more shadows to it. Especially from ABH and Mac. *wishful thinking* If you’re thinking of buying single shadows I recommend all three of these companies. (Don’t quote me on the Ofra ones since I only own one.) The price points are awesome, they have a lot of colors to choose from, and the pigmentation is everything!

Do you own any of the Colourpop pressed shadows or Makeup geek?? Any shades I need? Any other companies I should try?!?

Affordable at home Manicure

I’ve never done a post like this but this set up is too good not share! Since having the baby I haven’t had the time or heart to go to a nail salon and get a decent manicure. These products are what works best for me. I went through a lot of polishes to get this perfect set up *insert evil laugh!*

dsc_0182

I start off by softening and removing my cuticle with the Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover. It’s so easy to use: apply the product for 15 seconds (no longer than a minute), push it up with the cuticle stick, and voila clean cuticle free nails. Then I cut my nails to the desired size. For me it’s short because of the little tike. DSC_0193.png

This next step I need because I have ridges on my nails so I smooth them out a bit just to get rid of them.

dsc_0198

After that I wash my hands to get rid of any dust and moisturize with this Soap And Glory The Righteous Butter. It smells so good and its so thick and buttery it provides a lot of moisture.

dsc_0204

dsc_0200dsc_0187

For myself gel nail polishes are my favorite! Both these polishes are affordable. The Sinful Colors retails for $1.98 at Walmart STEAL! The L.A. Colors I also got at Walmart for the same price. Now both these polishes have a top coat that promotes a longer longevity of the polish but. . .dsc_0192

These two are my go to top coats. For a salon finish I recommend the Essie Gel Setter. It’s a bit pricey but so worth it. It gives that thick wet look without having to cure it like regular salon gel polishes. The O.P.I top coat is very basic and doesn’t last as long as the essie but definitely lasts longer than any other top coat.

Now I know nothing beats the feeling of getting pampered and having a hand massage, lol, but this is a quick at home diy manicure. I love it and can vouch my nails look pretty for 2-3 weeks. I bet if I wasn’t a germaphobe with the baby and didn’t have to wash bottles every night it would last even longer.

What are some of your favorite polishes or some diy home pampering??

Ipsy February Glam Bag

This months Ipsy’s glam bag was themed “Much Love”. dsc_0140The bag is a denim material with a bright orange zipper. I’ve had Ipsy for over a year and I’m happy with it. I’ve been introduced to some amazing companies and with their discounts and promotions I’ve gotten so many great items for cheap.

dsc_0157

One of those great things I’ve been introduced to and have purchased myself is Luxie Beauty products. I like that they’re vegan and synthetic. Through Ipsy I’ve gotten an angled brush I use in my every day routine for blush. This here is their actual blush brush which I read was good for applying highlight.

Purchased with their 30% off offer I got several eye brushes. I AM OBSESSED! They’ve all been rose gold but they have onyx noir and the dreamcatcher collection which is a pretty periwinkle.

 dsc_0159

Up next is NYX’s butter lipstick. I haven’t tried it yet so I don’t know if I love it, yet. I usually love NYX products so I can’t wait to try it. These retail for  $6 on the NYX website

“Treat your lips to a kiss of smooth, creamy color with our irresistible Butter Lipsticks in 12 new luscious shades. The formula’s delicate satin texture fused with highly saturated color delivers full-yet-lightweight coverage with a luxurious satin finish.” –NYX

dsc_0161

I’ve received many bellapierre products and with them its a hit or miss. Some I’ve loved some I hated. . . Hate is such a strong word, I’ve disliked. LOL! This is the Volumelash waterproof mascara. I haven’t tried it but as I was checking it out I noted it has no smell (yay) and the bristles are spaced which means it’ll work awesome to separate the lashes.

“The innovative brush and formula of Volume Lash Waterproof Mascara provide thicker, fuller lashes that won’t clump or flake throughout the day. Vitamin E and Castor Oil work to strengthen lashes, ensuring lashes stay healthy and beautiful.” –bellapierre

dsc_0168

I’ve been giving myself my own manicures since having the baby because there is no time to go to a nail salon so of course I was excited when I saw I was getting this product. The color itself is a little funky and it seems to have separated in the bottle. This could be because it sat in our mailbox for a few days in Florida heat. I’ve never tried any of this company’s products but I have high hopes because it is vegan and cruelty free. The name of the polish is $12 latte, how cute?!? Trust Fund Beauty

dsc_0166dsc_0164 This products reminds me of something similar I own and I swear by. The Sephora Collection: Solid Brush Cleaner. I LOVE IT! I am hoping I love this just as much because it smells amazing. This is the Japonesque Coconut Solid Brush Cleaner. It is a goat milk formula product . . . kinda weird. This is sold at Ulta I’m not sure where else.

” Maintain the beauty of your brushes with Japonesque’s gentle goat-milk cleansing balm in this Solid Brush Cleanser. Effective emollient formula quickly dissolves make-up and impurities to deep cleanse and condition your brush bristles for effortless professional brush cleaning. Freshly scented and coconut scented solid formulas deliver instant mess-free results and is the perfect travel-friendly cleansing companion.” –Ulta

The next Wet N Wild highlights came with my bag because I redeemed points. With Ipsy for every product you review you get points and when you accumulate enough points you can redeem them for products. I’ve done this plenty of times for stuff I’ve received in my bag and wanted more of. I’m not sure if these highlights were the ones everyone was raving about but for free I can’t complain. I honestly stick to two highlighters. My Laura Geller Gilded Honey and the Balms Mary-Lou Manizer. It’s exciting to try new stuff.

First up is Crown of my Canopy which is a peachy color and the second is Precious Petals which is a gold shade. I didn’t swatch them but I did look up reviews and everyone seems to love them! Yay!! Do you own these highlighting powders? Do you love them?

dsc_0142

dsc_0147

Over all I was so pleased with my Feb Ipsy bag. I’ve been debating whether to keep my subscription or not but every time I go to cancel it I see next months products and I just can’t. I have noticed the bags have improved the more I review what I receive so if you have an Ipsy subscription make sure you’re reviewing. Not only will it personalize your bag it will rack up those points! lol!

How was your Ipsy bag? Do you have any of these products, thoughts??

Love My Youtubers

One of my favorite things to do while I’m feeding my son is watch youtube. Its relaxing, entertaining, and inspirational. I learn a lot from many of the youtubers I watch and I also like challenging myself by recreating looks I like.

Today I’d like to tell you guys about my updated favorites. As time goes by we grow and so does our interests and that goes for who I like to watch too. Something that is important to me when I’m obsessing over a new youtuber is that I don’t want products shoved down my throat. While I can respect their hustle sometimes it’s not genuine. They have discount codes and hype up a product that is not worth it. As a family with one incoming and a sick makeup obsession I don’t want our hard-earned money going towards products that . . . suck!

Another thing is I want to be able to interact with the person I’m watching and its usually someone with a smaller audience. Most of the people I will mention I’ve talked to one on one or have asked about products they use and gotten a sincere answer.

I’ve done a post like this before you can read it Here. As you will see my interest have somewhat changed.

fullsizeoutput_eBailey Sarian. Im not exactly sure how I came across her channel but I am so glad I did! She’s funny, mega talented, and so down to earth. She’s a makeup artist and has great tips. A lot of girls on youtube are self-taught and won’t do makeup on others and that’s what makes Bailey so amazing. Her content and input isn’t about what works just for/on her but what would work on her clients or what they like. I’ve fortunately have spoken to Bailey one on one and she’s so genuinely kind and helpful. Bailey has actually  recently signed up with Ipsy so if you have a subscription you will be blessed with her face soon! 😝

fullsizeoutput_5 Someone that makes the list again is Jasminesong. She’s another makeup artist I randomly found but I know for sure I found her on Instagram. A friend of mine tagged me in her posts because of her piercing and from that follow a friendship was formed. You know how you watch these people and you think to yourself “I’d seriously get along with her!” Well that happened to me with Jasmine. She has amazing talent, has a big heart, and is so easy to watch.

fullsizeoutput_1Beautyybird actually has a lot of followers and does the whole discount code in your face thing but her personality makes up for all of that. She’s so bubbly and happy all the time I can watch her for hoursssss. She’s that type of person that starts putting makeup on and you’re hypnotized. It’s so seamless and easy to follow along. I often challenge myself in recreating some of her looks.

fullsizeoutput_bNow this is Yasmin’s vlog she has with her husband. I love vlogs but don’t follow any vlog channels besides theirs. I will watch their channel every single night. . . I AM HOOKED! Her personality bursts through the screen and her relationship with her husband is so inspirational. She is also very family oriented which I can appreciate.

fullsizeoutput_13Lastly there is Tymetheinfamous. Can she have a million subscribers already?!? She has pure raw talent. She does makeup like I’ve never seen before. Its bold, its out there, its in your face, and its mesmerizing. She also has one of the best personalities ever. Its dry but not boring, her voice is so soothing, and she’s soooo honest. Like, issues around the world in with our government honest!

Now don’t get me wrong I still have my og’s I am obsessed with like Nicole and Kathleen but it’s time to give some of the less known faces some love. Talent like theirs deserves some recognition. And I forgot about Carli Byble. She’s also a fave of mine because of her vegan ways and her kind soul.

Who are some of your old, new, or OG youtubers??

Life Update!

Hello everyone! After almost a year of being absent I am back with some life updates. If anyone noticed I was gone for a while I promise I have a good excuse! Back in April we found out I was pregnant. I had noticed a change in my mood and how tired I was. I had 0 motivation to blog or even do my makeup. So, I decided to put blogging aside while we got ready for the baby. Another thing is I wasn’t buying makeup (besides my basics/favorites) since we were focusing on just the baby and our 4yr old. I didn’t stop wearing makeup I just stopped talking about it. Here are a few of my favorite pics of my pregnancy! I didn’t do a maternity shoot which I kind of regret now but my bathroom mirror saw many selfies!

img_4370

img_4409-2

img_5156

Another big thing that happened that took up a lot of our/my time was back in November our dog Marie had puppies. For some reason she rejected them and I stepped in with bottle feeding and all that good stuff.  2 of the pups didn’t make it and with the hormones and time invested in them I didnt have energy at all to do makeup. I spent a lot of that time just focused on the pups and my daughter.

img_5157

But after finding most of them loving homes and giving birth to a beautiful baby boy I AM BACK!! My son was born in January and since then I’ve made some makeup damage so I can’t wait to show you guys and talk once again about the one thing we all have in common. . . our love for makeup! I’ve also played with the idea of not focusing so much on just makeup and possibly changing my style to more of a lifestyle blog with makeup posts also, thoughts??

I am so glad to be back, glad to have a healthy baby boy and daughter, and glad to be doing what I love once again!
